View Full Version : Surfing the web with your PSP using a DLink 614+ Router

People such as myself who have a D-Link DI-614+ router have been having a heck of a time exploiting Wipeout Pure's built-in web-browsing capabilities. This is because the DNS server entered into the router overrides the DNS server entered into the PSP. In order to use one of the various PSP-based web portals available, the correspoding DNS server must be entered into the router as the primary DNS server.

Another wrinkle. If you are connecting to the internet via a DSL connection which uses PPPoE, then you will need to update your firmware to the latest version. The firmware that comes factory installed on the PSP does not allow the user to set the DNS servers when using PPPoE, but the latest firmware does.

After adding these two instructions to the normal setup procedure, I am finally surfing the internet with my PSP!

Where did you find the program to allow you to connect to the Internet on the PSP? Do you need a copy of that game Wipeout Pure or is there another way? If so, can you send me a link? I found a couple pages TALKING about it but they did'nt say how they DID it. Most frustrating.

As of now, you need a copy of Wipeout. There are plans for Sony to reslease an official web browser in the near future.

Yea I've been surfing the web on my PSP for a few days now.

Remember to turn off the Wlan Power Saver to speed up your surfing. ;)

I'm hoping they do release a browser whether it's built in and displayed on the menu, or comes on a disc, either way, I can't wait to be browsing the web with mine. I would do it now, but I don't want to have to buy Wip3out or change my routers DNS settings.

But hopefully soon.

Will it be on a disc or a firmware update? I think it should be a firmware update, unless it needs a lot of memory, then in that case, put it on a UMD with tons of features and release it for maybe $5-10. I hope it has downloading. Being able to download files to the MSP would be awesome. I'm just looking forward to playing around and browsing forums. What DP should do is create a new theme for the PSP which could be a watered down mainly text version that would act the same, but be formatted to fit your PSP's screen. It's not even that hard! The problem I see is that forum theme settings are stored per user, not via a cookie. So damn, that wouldn't work well as you'd have to change your theme when you switch to another computer. The only real solution would be to make a second forum that still uses the same Database. I dunno. I just hate scrolling.

Hey, do me a flavor. What do each of the buttons do? How is browsing? How do you navigate? I'm curious how the mechanics work.
