I usually don't play a game for more than an hour a day. I have cut down on gaming ever since the N64 and Playstation came out. I though I was getting bored of gaming in all. Then 7 years later came a game called METEROID PRIME.

I love this game it has everything the oldschool games had plus better graphics! I just played five hours! Five hours! It's been years since I played FIVE HOURS. The graphics are great, the game itself is great. After I conquer this game I am going to lend it to my friend. He owns an XBOX. This game will make him a Nintendo fan. Give this game a try, it will make you a Nintendo Fan.

I don't like to sound like a fanboy, but at this point I don't care. I've been playing Animal Crossing, which everyone knows its a great game. I recently conquered Mario Sunshine and I still play Super Smash Bros against my cousins, brother and friends. I am very happy with my GameCube. If I don't buy any other games these 5 years I will still die happy. VIDEO GAMES ARE BACK!!!

Hey, it's OK to be a FANBOY, Cmtz!

I love my GameCube too, but for different games. I couldn't really get into Animal Crossing (though I did play it for 1/2 hour a day for a month), I didn't even LIKE Mario Sunshine, and I just got Metroid for Christmas and haven't played it much (though it does look incredible). My games are Beach Spikers, Starfox Adventures, Phantasy Star Online and Super Monkey Ball.

It's a great system and the exclusive titles have been the best part so far. I hope they keep it up. With Zelda just around the corner this is a great time to be a GameCube owner.

I just bought this a few days ago, and I think it is pretty fun. i'd give it a 9/10. I mean, its not a GREAT game, but i think Nintendo did pretty good with the whole FPS genre.

You give it a 9/10 but its not a great game? What does a shitty game get, an 8?

Metroid Prime is the best game ever. 11/10 is what it deserves.

I don't see what's so great looking about this game. I played it on my friends GC, and it was pretty basic stuff with a couple of cool effects.

The water looks grainy, the environments were to small, when you shoot something the bullets don't ricochet, or react correctly, the textures are pretty bland and don't have any real "weight", and everything in general just had a generic feel.

I played through the first stage, and into the part where you land on the planet, and had enough.

I guess Halo spoiled me, cause the attention to detail in that game was extrodinary.

This game would definitely not make me want a GC, though Animal Crossing, and Zelda are swaying me, but i'm not quite sold on one yet. I enjoy me Xbox. :D

The first part is just a training exercise to get you familiar with the controls. You don't get to see any of the cool stuff until you're on the planet! Attention to detail in Metroid Prime is second to none, but sometimes you don't notice it because it doesn't stand out, it's just... natural. Such as rain on your visor, reflections, electrical interference, heat haze etc. Trust me, MP was game of the year for 2002...

Yep. I've talked to people who "weren't impressed".. yet they've only played it for 10 minutes or so!

One thing you HAVE TO remember that Metroid Prime, (just like the SNES and NES versions) starts out slow and keeps adding on and and adding on as you slowly progress through the game. :)

It doesn't blow it's wad in the beginning and the rest of the game is just repitition of the gameplay in different or more difficult areas. :P

At 13 hours into the game I'm at 39% completion.. and it's just getting cooler and cooler as Samus' abilities get more enhanced.. it's just awesome. And believe you me, in the beginning, I had a hard time adjusting to the whole thing ( I hated the First Person Perspective, and the whole "scanning" thing sucked) but now that I'm really "into it", it's a whole different story.

As far as comparison to Halo goes.. you can't really compare. Halo is a FPS. Metroid is a "3D Metroid game". Those of you who loved the SNES Metroid should know what I'm talking about. It's an EXPLORATION game mainly where you constantly power up for the ability to explore to new areas. The shooting parts of it aren't really FPS style since you lock onto enemies automagically with a touch of a button.

In defense of the "bullets", keep in mind samus isn't using a normal gun, she's using an energy blaster. This is why you can charge it up.

And when you shoot that energy beam at most surfaces, they don't bounce because the energy's absorped. See the black scorch mark on the wall where you shot? Most games don't do that. The beam can also bouce if you hit certain creatures that have hard protection and only has weakness in certain spot or when you're trying to open the door that can only be opened with a missle.

The visor can get fogged up if you get too close to an enemies when blasting them (eeww... dead bug's gut!) or when outside in the rain you can see a spot or 2 appear. Stand near a waterfall and your visor mistes up. (Why didn't anyone think to include a wiper???)

Given enough time, I'm sure a lot of people will like this game.

I want this game, but it may be awhile....I've vowed to defeat Contra:SS on normal and Devil May Cry on normal before I'm allowed to buy it. :/

Shall I reserve MP for you then? Who knows, by the time you're caught up on games and are allowed to MP, MP may be available only in museum. :D j/k

I don't keep myself constrained. If I'm really stuck in one spot, I just go ahead and start a different game and get back to it later. Of course this hasn't helped me finish Y's for SMS (15 years still unfinished! LOL)

Three long months until we get it here in europe. I just wish nintendo would release this japanese business man looking gamecube accesory doll thats connected to it and is able to tell you what new gamecube only games are already out in the states. And soon after that it would say "No, no youll get it later, much, much later! hahahahah". And then you would beat the **** out of it and get points by how much damage youd done. I think it would sell like no other nintendo product. ;)

Thats a winner right there!
