Hi just would like some help. Once the DS goes online is there any possible way to play NES roms online using the DS with another DS user. I love playing NES games using the netplay feature on emulators, and was hoping this might be possible in the future using the DS. (presuming I have broadband and a wilress router)
Thanks in advance.

I didn't realize that the wireless feature would even work in GBA mode.....then again, if someone makes a proper DS flash card, then that's probably entirely possible.

Only a handful of developers even have DS online kits. We don't know the exact specs at all, and homebrew for the DS has been so far limited to a very simple version of Tetris ran using a pretty ugly passthrough method to access the GBA cart slot. So your answer is "how the hell should I know?"

Officially, its not. "Play your favorite GBA games in single player mode."
Obviously, by RedEye's post, hacks are possible :D

You mean this neat thingy which will be released soon:
http://www.neoflash.com/neo-power-kit.jpg
Directly support TXT / HTML / JPG / GIF / BMP / PNG / NES / SEGA GG / PC-E
/ GB / GBA / NEO(NDS)..... many file format.
So basicly you can play PC_engine;genesis,Nes(I already play NES games on my DS via the gamboyA Movie Player),GB etv games from the start.
and knowing the DS homebrew/developing scene it will only take a bit time till you are able to play emulated games online with the DS worldwide.

It should be completely possible. Considering that the Kaillera Network already lets you play NES roms against another person (I was playing a dude in Australia, Dr. Mario, and the lag was so bad on my end. He beat me 3-2).

That piece of crap is the same passthrough you can buy for $30, but boxed up with a GBA flash cart. All these promised features are currently available on any flashcart you can buy now. You're not running DS code for this, you're running the same GBA emulators that have been around forever.

OOH, BURN.
Yes, I'm looking at the goddam picture, and it's exactly what I'm describing. It's a DS passthrough that accesses the GBA slot. Yes, it can run DS code, I never said it couldn't. What I said was that all these cool emulator features ARE NOTHING MORE THAN THE GBA EMULATORS YOU CAN PUT ON A NORMAL GBA FLASH CART. The only DS code you can currently run on these are small homebrew applications such as a limited version of Tetris, and the dumped version of the Metroid demo. There are no emulators currently written for the Nintendo DS. And, like I also said earlier, this is nothing more than the same passthrough kit you can currently buy for about $30, except it's put in a fancy package and bundled with a GBA flash cart. Do some research beyond looking at a pretty picture before you critique my posts.
EDIT: That said, someday there will be cool DS software written that will be compatible with this thing. The only point I'm trying to get across is not to get excited over the features this product provices, because it's the same old stuff you can do right now on your GBA. It is, literally, GBA code.

now tell me for what they should use the "passthrough"-tech when it is directly accessing the DS hardware?
I meant with "look at the pic" that it IS a flash hardware but NOT accessing the GBA slot (as you said above) but the DS slot, for gods sake.LOOK.
So there is no need for "passthroughing".
it IS a flash hardware for the DS hardware which means that u can directly use the DS hardware for emulation.
"Easy" snes, genesis and PC-engine emulation should be no problem in near future.
:)
