I was going thru a parcel yesterday sent to me that contained some Odyssey I items that I had purchased. It was a package deal that contained an Odyssey I, game cards (chips), overlays and a bunch of boxed odyssey I games I didin't have. I had bought the set mostly for the boxed games any maybe some misc items that I didn't have for my minty first run Odyssey. Among the misc paperwork were the directions for the game Percepts. I had never heard of that one before so I checked the DP guide. Lo and behold it was a mail in game that you received when you sent in the registration card. I was stoked. I had a rare game for the Odyssey. I checked out the instructions to see what items were included. It looked like only the overlays were included while the game used card #2 which was included with the base set already. I was excited when I went thru the box looking for the overlays but horribly depressed when they were not in the box. :( As I looked closer at the pics of the overlays on the instructions though I thought that they looked familiar. On a whim, I opened my other Odyssey and thumbed thru the overlays. As it turns out, the original owner must have sent in the registration card as I had both the small and large overlays for the game :D Apparently, the only thing he forgot was to save them in the box. Color me stoked as my Odyssey I collection is around 90+% complete. I have a few more boxed ones to get (which I will probably never find, but who knows :)

Anyway, have you folks found any games that you had, but had no idea you had?

As sad as it is, i keep track of all the games i buy in a database so i definately dont duplicate any, unless they are for trade!

I just found a *Juggler* Game & Watch but it's missing the front silver plate and some issues of Nintendo Power. Spring cleaning will turn up some more goodies.

I recommend a program called Ant Movie Catalog. Actually, considering it is free and highly modable, someone wrote a "game" version of it. I use it, and it can be highly customized. Excellent tool. You can find the complete mod (no need for the original program) here (http://forum.antp.be/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1548).

As for the actual topic, I don't really find things I didn't think I had. But instead I don't find things I thought I had. So depressing :S

That program seems interesting, can it export html and can you view games by system?

I'm still faithful to collectorz.com's Game Collector program myself.

For the topic, it happens all the time! Even though I keep it in a database, sometimes i'll just look at the shelf and go "Wow! I have this?! When did I buy it?"

It's almost like buying it twice ;)

I keep all my games on good ol' excel, not lost track of anything yet (being super-flash, I also export to acrobat for up/dowloading ease ;))

Did recently find, amongst my manuals drawer, instructions for a Devil May Cry 3 demo, and I'm damned (ha ha) if I know where I got it from. :-/

I used Game Collector too, VACRMH. Problem is, when it generates the thumbnails, it loves CPU. So I thought, bleh to this.

The Game mod of AMC is terrific. It features a template designer and everything. Any input field can be used in your templates. I personally just want a text print out by system with info on manuals, boxes, cd number, etc. It's the best damn program for this thing, in my opinion.

If you do investigate it further, and I hope you do, I'm sure you will learn to love it. Game Collector could be a great program in the future, but its just not the nicest of interfaces and it bogs down too much sometimes.

You keep your manuals seperate from your games? I used to do this, but I learnt it wasn't ideal. I only keep manuals for boxes I don't have in a drawer.[/quote]

Recently my girlfriend brought up that she loved Backgammon as a kid so we went to Toys R Us and picked up a board, but I'll be damned if those instructions made any sense at all. One night I was down in the workshop modding something I'm sure, and she comes down and after a few minutes, shrieks out, you have a Backgammon video game. Sure enough I had Backgammon for the Intellivision sitting right there. We tried it out and sure enough figured out how to play. Video games really are little miracles.

Just easier for me, although my collection is still sub-300 (for now). I'm sort-of obsessive compulsive toward my collection so I don't like to disturb it too much (especially when it's as chaotic as it is now)

(Did try to get it back OT but failed miserably... sorry!)

Once, I got 68 Unique NES games and shelved them seldom looking at them twice. One day I looked through my NES games and found Shadowgate which I didn't know I had. Months later, I took the same game off the shelf and found some Nintendo stickers on the sleeve. :eek 2: I'll have to post photos of that here sometime.

No, I've never found a game that I didn't know I had, but I have played games for the first time after having them kicking around in my collection for awhile. Sometimes I'll be pleasantly surprised that way. :)

Sort of... I used to have Pokemon Gold. A few months after having it, it disappeared, and Pokemon Silver appeared in it's place :eek 2:
