So, I want to make a guitar amplifier in an Atari 2600 case. I got a Pac-Man here ready to open up. Haven't actually opened it up yet. The cartridge is just a LITTLE too small I think and I am not sure I can fit the amp inside.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what else video game related I can shove the amp into?! Here's the amp I have: http://www.smokeyamps.com -- it's the size of a pack of cigarettes, but the insides aren't as big.

Well as it is now with the cigarette pack casing it's a tad higher than the cartridge. I'm gonna try this as my first attempt. If it just won't fit then I'll find something else cool to shove the amplifier in. It runs off a 9V battery, the height of the battery might just squeeze inside, otherwise I'll find some smaller 9V battery I can shove on there.

I already bought the amp last night.. they go for $24.95 and are not bad.

How does one get apart a Pac-Man cart anyway?! I haven't pryed one open in many years. I cut away the label (I plan to make a custom label for this later) and took out the screw. There's a small rectangle hole above the screw hole with what looks like a metal spring or clip back there. The cartridge just didn't seem to want to come apart.

What about another classic cartridge?! Are there any systems that have similar sized cartridges, but maybe a little thicker?!

Hmmm, i dunno about thicker, im pretty sure an AES cart would be thicker, however i dunno if its worth doign that to one...

If you do thou, i need a AES game for my Gameless AES, so keep me informed ;-)

Good luck with the mini Amp!

Thanks. I just popped it open at work. I'll see how much room I have when I get home.

To open the cart, push the dust cover in and pull the 2 halves apart by that end. If it still doesn't pop open, there are 2 locking tabs on the inside edges. Gently pop one up while prying.
