View Full Version : What feedback should I give?

On Oktober 30 I won this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1391428075

The seller lives in Belgium, I live in the Netherlands. No problem. I send him the money. After I sent the money he bugs me several times that it's taking too longer. I tell him to be patient, because I really send it and the mail can be a bit slower some times.
After about a week I get the money I send him in MY mail. It couldn't be delivered because the address was wrong. He forgot to give me his house number in his address. I just copied his address without thinking about it too much. Foreigners have freaky addresses more often, so it never occured to me something was wrong.
By this time I was already kinda annoyed with the guy. Bugging me for the money, giving the wrong address, giving me extra costs for sending it.

Anyways he finally got the money and send me an email on november 22 in which he said he would send the package. So I waited.... and waited... and waited. So on december 6 I sent him an email.. no reply. On december 13 I sent him another email in which I threatened with legal action. I waited some more...

On december 18 I got this email:

Hello.
I am Marc, Christophe's brother. Christophe has had a severe car accident
and he is still in hospital. He apologizes because he has been in coma for
several weeks and therefore he was unable to assume his obligations towards
you. He has asked me to purchase the transaction with you.
I am going to send the console to you but I need you to remind me your
mailing address, please.
In the name of my brother, I apologize again for this drawback.
Thank you for your understanding.

Today I finally got the package. And don't know what feedback I should leave him. I don't believe a WORD of what he says. Getting in a coma just as he's about to send the package and getting out of it just after I send him a threatening email is too much coincedence for me. But on the other hand, it might be true. And then it would be rather rude to leave him a negative. And I don't want to risk him leaving me a negative as well.

so... what should I do?

Even though it sounds fishy, it may actually be true. It sounds like it all worked out finally, so maybe leave a neutral? Something like "Payment returned due to incorrect seller address, finally worked out OK". Or just skip the feedback totally - you don't HAVE to leave any if you don't want to.

After the Orochi Akuma incident here, I don't believe anyone on the internet whose injuries are either very convenient, very coincidental, or very miraculous. Guess where that leaves your seller?

Since you got the item, I wouldn't leave bad feedback. If you MUST leave feedback at all, use the neutral and make note of the delay. That way, some other guy who buys from him in the future and hears from "his brother" (which seems to be the popular safety valve of late) will be a little more suspicious and hopefully cautious about the transaction.

eBay people. Can't live with them, can't blow them up without getting into serious trouble.

I'm looking at his bid history now and see that he has bid on other objects at:
November 29
November 30
December 7
December 12

I don't think it's possible to bid on items if you're in a coma. With other words, he's a liar and late and annoying. Not someone I would want to do business again or recommend to anyone else to do business with. I'm leaning towards a negative very much now.

If he was in a coma how could he tell his brother to email you and apologize? I don't know about him but if I was in a coma squaring away all my eBay transactions wouldn't be much of a priority. That is the worst excuse I have ever seen in my life.

Whether he lied or not, if you leave him neg feedback you risk him being a jerk and leaving you neg feedback just for spite. I think I would just be happy that I got the item and leave it at that. You don't really gain anything by leaving him neg feedback anyway.

If you got the console and it looks like the one in that box then you really can't leave Negative. But any seller/buyer who can't put their correct Mailing address info should be shot imho.. just don't leave him any feedback. Or a neutral, i don't know..

I find it very hard to want to buy something from a seller who has low feedback, or no track record selling items. It seems that you are almost guaranteed some type of disappointment dealing with people like this.

id either give him neural or none at all because most people will be a jackass and just neg you back thats why I have 1 neg in my profile because someone wasnt getting my emails and I neged them for no payment they neg'd me back calling me a lier

yeah ebay is like that, i just got a negative for this person not responding to my emails and he says it's the other way around. Then I get a non paying bidder warning by ebay, i showed them what happened and they just removed it this morning. Whats with people? i don't get it....like i'm going to argue about $10 and hide.

He didn't leave negative feedback to the people who left him negative feedback, so I don't think I should worry too much about that.

I don't agree you can't leave a negative if you get the item. I think the goal of the feedback system is to show others how a deal with that person was. In this case it's a slow, annoying liar. Someone who clearly can't be trusted. Leaving a negative would be the best way to warn other people who want to deal with this person.

I don't know, he may wake up out of that coma and the first thing he'll do is leave negative feedback for everybody! \^_^/ LOL
