If you own the Saturn version of Gunbird, I need a favor from you.

I'm aware that many Saturn games play in audio CD players. If you have Gunbird, I'm interested in finding out if it plays in CD players. The official Gunbird & Gunbird 2 soundtrack is a rarity, but if the game disc plays in a CD player, that'll have to tide me over till the soundtrack pops up somewhere.

Thanks for your help in advance.

No, sorry. I didn't play for me. I didn't see any sound files on it either.

OK, PCK. I just decided to check this out myself, using the JP Saturn version of Gunbird. I put it in my PS2, in an RCA CD boombox, and the CD-ROM drive of a venerable Compaq Pentium 150 laptop running the pack-in CD audio interface.

Track 1 was the data track, and so did not show up on the PS2. The boombox and PC could play track 1, but it came up silent. Thank god. Some game data tracks sound like a screaming demonic robot horde. Turn down your volume if you're going to do a test like that.

Tracks 2-16 in each case came up with the Gunbird BGM, which is what you want. Yay! Tracks 17-25 are the voice samples that play in between the levels when the baddies are telling you that you have no chance to survive, make your time, etc.

I don't know why Spartacus couldn't get his copy to work. Unless he heard silence on track 1 and just gave up from there.

Anyway, going for bonus points, I decided to check out my copy of Mobile Light Force (US PS), which, as you probably know, is the XS published version of Gunbird released here in the United States for PlayStation.

The Xbox didn't like it, calling it dirty or damaged or something. The Saturn liked it better, coming up with tracks 2-14 as BGM. I don't know where the other two tracks went, and right just now isn't a good time to sit down and do a side-by-side comparison. Maybe after finals are over on Monday.

So, you can grab the JP Saturn Gunbird for about $25 from ebay and probably have pretty much everything that's on the official soundtrack, or you can grab a MLF from your local CrazyGamesBoutique for less than $10 and get two tracks less.

The first track on saturn games is always data and the rest always audio. If you want to play the any saturn games audio in the saturn player just open up your saturn, flip the white ribbon and turn it back on with the game. The game won't play and you'll be taken to the audio player menu where you can listen to the tracks there. This is kind of a backwards way of listening to audio in a saturn (from a saturn game), but it works.

I found this out on accident when I was putting my saturn back together (because I put the ribbon in the wrong way).

Well I'll be damned! I can verify tracks 2-25 play exactly as bargora said. If I had known what nate1749 knew, that the first track on saturn games is always data and the rest always audio, I might have been able to better help you. Sorry for the bum steer. :embarrassed: Hope you wont ask for the meseta back! LOL
