here we go again!

four months have passed and the next meet is just around the corner, mark your calenders. winter time can be rough on NE collectors, its far too cold for yardsales and outdoor flea markets but at least you have a chance to turn your doubles into new games. as always the meet will be held in boston on a saturday, running from 4PM til 9 or so. if you've been meaning to attend a gathering but never had the chance be sure to come by this time, our numbers are growing and the trades are getting bigger.
we're classic gamers but we dont stop there, we cover everything from channel F to the PS2, lots of cross platform trading takes place. even if you're new to the scene or low on trade fodder you'll be able to join in, we are more than happy to set you up with the basics for sub ebay prices. in addition to trading there will lots of gaming and rare items to check out. we'll also be making plans for the philly classic in april and our own mega meet this summer. check out our site at the link below for more details.

ps. we got some press! a nice little blurb in this months issue of tips and tricks, arent you proud of us?

I wanted to also point out that I've posted Christian's intro to NECG trading on our site, so make sure you check it out if you're a newbie to our cult... er, organization?

Keep in mind that we're giving you over a month's notice, and we've told you about Feb 8th before. NO excuses this time around! We want to see more DPer's beside Keir and Kevin. Someone who's name doesn't begin with K, even ; )

I'll be there. And, I'll actually have some games for trade eventhough I'd rather just go for the free beer...

You know, this is a pretty good time. I should be able to make it! I"ll see if I can round up the local posse as well. Also remind me to sticky this about a week before the event!

Game on, fellas.

a visit from dp? that can only mean one thing...no left over beer this time!

seriously we'd love to have you over and anyone else you can fit in the car. perhaps your luminary presence will lure sylentwulf, wbrendan and punkoffgirl down from their nothern holdouts. bring a big enough posse and we'll have a RGVC vs ATARI AGE vs DIGITAL PRESS gaming contest!

And to anyone coming this time....it's turn to the *right* when you get out of the JP subway stop. Turn left like me and you get to go on a 2 hour hike through Roslindale as it's getting dark, which I highly don't recommend (and I was born in Field's Corner!)

In any case, sounds good, and I'll be there.

Hey Joe, that'd be just peachy keen if you came up for the evening. Bring, uh, nifty stuff? Looking forward to meeting the two newcomers KTodd and Riek, as well.

And yes, follow Kevin's advice if you're in that area... we do want you to actually make it to the shindig in one piece.

You got at least two of the "DP Guys" coming, CX2K and I.

- What time should we be there?
- How late does it run?
- If we get out of line, is there any possibility we'd get kicked out?
- If things "get broken", is there any possibility we'd get kicked out?
- Will there be strippers?
- If not, is there a strip club nearby?

Just trying to plan the hotel and various timeline-intensive activities.

I may be coming with DP and CX2K, depending if I'm functional after my first weeklong business trip (and especially since it's week 1 out of *4*). I'd love to come, and I'd come with an arm load of Georgia's finest handpicked trade bait :D

But if you do end up over there, stop at the BBQ place (you sill see the cut out pig on the sidewalk) and bring us some food. I like ribs and BBQ pork sandwiches. Just make sure the beans are on the side.

- What time should we be there?

We start up around 4pm, but I don't think Chris would mind if you were a little early.

- How late does it run?

The woman of the house kicks us out at 9ish ; )

- If we get out of line, is there any possibility we'd get kicked out?

I doubt it!

- If things "get broken", is there any possibility we'd get kicked out?

Nah - that's most of the fun, really.

- Will there be strippers?

I'll try to wear something tiny and easily removable...

hmm never had to kick anyone out...well some people just wanna yack all night about how super great they are at pitfall II but that wasnt exactly a booting out was it? then there was the time that creepy dude, you know the one, started muttering silently to my dog. oh and lets not forget the leg humping incident...

i'll be relieved to have some people over to actually get drunk with me, for all of our bottle showing bluster I'M the ONLY ONE with a good buzz on, granted i dont have far to drive. things getting broken...lessee so far so good but it seems that every joystick mark touches is broken, if you're reading this mark...bring your own "special stick" with the lil' red trigger button and suction cup feet ok?

strip clubs...there is this one ultra dive down in the zone called the glass slipper, of course you'll wanna get drunk somewhere else before hand but its a classic. its not one of those modern joints with multiple stages and young women..nope its a real sailors delight!

Hey,

I'm hoping to pick up some of the "cheap" DC games at NECG. I have these games (http://people.bu.edu/cure/games.txt) right now. Since I have most of the rare games, what I'm hoping to pick up are a bunch of the common games that are listed at 5 and under in the DP guide. Maybe some of you guys have some from lots that you've bought? I don't have much to trade right now, since I've been doing a lot of trading (all I have is a sealed .hack demo for PS2), but I will have a decent bit of cash to spend and am willing to pay DP guide value for those games.

So if you can bring any of those, that'd be great![/url]

digitalpress
02-02-2003, 04:59 PM
I can PROMISE you that between John and I there will be at least a dozen DC titles available, brand new, and as cheap as you're gonna find 'em.

Just wondering...
Will there be any contests to win free stuff, giving some of us less financially blessed collectors a chance to get some games?

christianscott27
02-03-2003, 12:55 AM
if its basic ie common stuff that you're looking for you wont find it any cheaper than here, and remember that anything game related is fair tradebait, heck in my case i'll even take castle legos for games.

prizes? hmm someting along those lines could come about if people are inclined to provide some items to go along with any challenges they might come up with.

there really should be a prize for anyone who comes dressed up like mario!

It will really help me prepare what to bring if I know what people are looking for in advance, by the way!

I'm not talking about trade lists, just a general "I'm collecting Dreamcast, Genesis, SNES (boxed only), and any DVDs" would really help. Otherwise I'll come with my usual scattershot of stuff.

I can't help but feel drawn to this event, like a fly to ointment. I have a couple of burning questions:

Joe, is there enough space in the DP Industries van for a few more? Gas/beer money will gladly be furnished.

There is a bus that leaves Chinatown in downtown Boston and goes to NYC. Is there anyone willing to provide chauffer service to this place from CS's crib? Gas/beer money will gladly be furnished.

Thanks!

no need for a ride, i live right next forest hills on the subway (orange line) and its a 15 minute straight ride to the chinatown stop (also on the orange line). sure beats having anyone trying to drive you thru downtown boston.

So, what are people bringing to Christian's house?

For Trade, I am bringing what is on this page:

http://www.foodtastesgood.com/trades/

along with a Micro Genius IQ 901 with a bunch of games. (I'm having trouble booting the Micro Genius up)...so this might be a trade for those who know how to fix stuff...

For consumption, I am bringing some PBR. Christian usually has some beer in the fridge, but if you have a piss or quality beer (or bottle of liquor) of choice, bring it along...Too much alcohol is always a good thing!

Well, it looks like I can't go after all. :-( My uncle just ended up in the hospital (congestive heart failure, I think - he's a big man). So, anyway, I will be going to visit him, hopefully, and also my grandmother who isn't in the best of shape either (more emotionally than physically).

So have fun, everyone, and share some fond NES memories for me. Hopefully I will be able to make the next one.

Hi there. I was considering coming to the event but had a couple questions.
-are any and all welcome?
#1 -Is there any sort of newbie initiation? (i.e. -will there be paddling involved? "thank you sir, may I have another?")

#2 - Is Keystone Lite still considered a beer?

To answer DP I collect NES, Genesis and N64 games, Specifically trying to hunt down Hillsfar for the NES and Genghis Khan for Genesis.

Hi there. I was considering coming to the event but had a couple questions.

everyone is welcome, as long as you like video games and social gatherings you're good to go. this goes out to anyone reading this, lurkers included, we are definatley not the "cool kids lunch table" type people, i mean we're like video game geeks...

#1 -Is there any sort of newbie initiation? (i.e. -will there be paddling involved? "thank you sir, may I have another?")
uhhh no, but theres an off chance my dog might hump your leg, its not really an initiation but rather a compliment of sorts. i strongly encourage all first time visitors and longtime members alike to bring gifts though...last time i got a castle lego "knights wagon" set :)!!

#2 - Is Keystone Lite still considered a beer?
what? are you worried about bitter beer face? i suppose thats the sort of stuff you drink all day and not get buzzed off but we encourage you to support sam adams (brewed right here in jamaica plain!). or just bring what you want to drink, mark will no doubt have that weird fruit punch all of our "dry" members find so yummy.

Sorry to hear about your grandparents, moose. Best wishes to your family, and I hope everything turns out alright.

Finally got all the details ironed out. Christian Scott, Adrienne and I will be arriving via the Chinatown bus, which is very close to the orange MBTA line. From there, we can take the MBTA to the forest hills stop. see ya then, everyone!

Should Cootie not be feeling very friendly Saturday, I'm sure that a few of the regulars might help with the "initiation" for the right price. Just something to keep in mind ; )
