UPDATE: If you're re-visiting this site and/or have already submitted a design, please read my recent comment here:
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=660203#660203

Those classic black shirts with the familiar "Space Fury Guy" logo on the front and 8-bit icon design (see our main banner) on the back have been sold out since the holidays. It's time to get a new design put together in time for "show season", and you can help!

The Challenge: Think about what you would want to see on a shirt that would really COMPEL you to visit the website. The theme should be on-topic with our charter here (classic videogames), and in keeping with our heritage it can be risque if need be.

You don't have to create any art - we've got that covered. What we're looking for is a concept. A slogan, theme, or general "mock up" of the front and back of the shirt. For a glimpse at our last t-shirt, clcik HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/shirts.htm). Feel free to use any of the resources on this website as part of your design.

What's in it for you? The Roundtable community is our team, and teamwork is always rewarded here. If we use your theme, we'll send you your choice of either a complete (unboxed, but with all hookups needed) Pioneer Laseractive, Tomy Tutor, or Amiga CD32 system. In addition to this, we'll throw in a year subscription to the DP bi-monthly paper publication, two admission tickets to Classic Gaming Expo 2005, and five t-shirts with your winning concept!

The Deadline: Submissions must be in no later than Friday, May 6th. We'll pick one out that weekend and announce the winner on the 9th.

You can submit as many "concepts" as you'd like, but they must be submitted in this thread. To help, here's a template you can cut and paste to lay out your idea. Describe in as much detail as you can, including size and color. If you'd like to draw a mock-up, feel free to include a link to it here as well (or you could send us the image and we'll host and link to it).

If it's your original work, certainly. If it's someone else's acquired without permission, then no.

How about klausien's idea that he posted in the EB/Gamestop thread. Maybe we could change it around a bit be have a relevence to all game stores... heh

From the original post:

"I think it may be time to have shirts printed that say:

NO, I DO NOT NEED TO RESERVE ANYTHING.
NO, I DO NOT WANT A SUBSCRIPTION TO YOUR STUPID MAGAZINE.
NO, I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING MY GAMES.

NOW LEAVE ME ALONE. "

This came as an idea after seeing those NES Pad "Know Your Roots" shirts, which I can not freaking stand. It's time to let people know it goes further back. And for the record, I *was* going to use Space War, but I figured that was too far back.

What's next, in five years we see "Know your roots" shirts that have playstation 2s on them ? O_O

Several other ideas coming to mind, will work on after work, muwahahah.

Hey Joe, is there a certain way you want these sumitted. I wondered because I will end up hand drawing this and showing it to you, but I don't know if you want me to try and scan this, or maybe to mail you in the picture or what.

If it's alright with you I think i'll also just do a drawing and send it into you. I'm sort of thinking about drawing a picture of a NES with a beer on top of it on the front and putting "DIGITAL PRESS for the sophisiticated gamer" on the back.

EDIT: I think if it had a bottle cap with the Digital Press pin logo (http://www.cafepress.com/digitalpress.20233494) on the back it would look even better.

If you don't have a place to host your scanned image, you can emal it to me and I'll host it. Either way, the link should be in this thread with your concept.

The back would list all the featured systems of DP"s online guide in chronological order of appearance (rather than the alphabetical I have here) to make it look like the game systems are the performing locations and the dates are when each system launched.

"More dates coming..." could be added after the last system to keep the shirt current :D

I am a strong supporter of less talk more picture.

That is, no motto or question aside from the 'Digital Press www.digitpress.com '

I think that the front should have a recognizable icon or picture, perhaps some oversized Combat characters or something and the back, just below the collar line should have the motto and URL. Or the front and back should be the same. I hate to say it, but I would model it after trendy T-shirts coming out these days.

OKAY! What's the bestest games of the 1990s? One of you says GI Joe (Konami), and the other says Alien Soldier...well...since the AS one is easy, let's get that out of the way:

On a plain shirt (black or white), a collage of some of the Digital Press people facing off against Z-Leo, with the text "VISUALSHOCK! SPEEDSHOCK! SOUNDSHOCK!" on the front. On the back - you guessed it - "NOW IS THE TIME TO THE GAMER HEART ON FIRE!" (add "classic" if necessary?)

Oh, that was cheesy, yes, unforgivably so. OK, I'll redeem myself.

On the other shirt, the front should be a scene from Konami's GI Joe arcade game, with changes: a behind-the-back view of Joe Santulli, firing a stream of Evil Ottos at various DP posters' icons (if desired, his backpack weapon can be a classic console, the actual gun the controller - though I think this is really overdoing it by now). Along the top of the screen are mountains (with the guy from I'm Sorry standing on top?); enscribed along the top of the shirt and reaching into the picture's sky are the words "YO JOE," of course.

On the back, I was thinking a smaller, no background scene with Joe again facing off against a M.U.L.E.-like collection of various game sprites that vaguely resembles a transformer (or perhaps the alien from Space Fury?) The text here would be this: "Your roots - knowing is half the battle!"

So, anyhow, there's your crazy idea.

okay, here's mine:

name: classic or next-gen
submitted by: SuperNES

anyways on the front we would have either the freaky space clown guy(preferably not), the 'let's be friends' logo, or just the text 'digital press' in that neat digitalpress font. around it in a circle would be all the graphics of systems from my consoles shop, and above it it would say 'classic or Next-gen, we love them all.' and below it it would have the URL.

on the back it would just say digital press in the neat font and below that it would have the URL, sot of high-up-ish on the shirt. i'll make a prototype soon, hold on.

Gonna go with TRM...short but sweet, and the world tour thing is also socially acceptable! ;P

I'm in love with all of Deputy Moniker's submissions. If those don't get printed up, I may have a few done myself!

Ok i like to keep it plain and simple, here are a few i made.

The first shirt can have all different front icons from the dp banner, i chose mario, back the same.
Second shirt same story, can be 3 different front icons, back the same.

Ofcorse backlogo's can be switched too for both designs!

With the this second pic i put up some more known slogans and logo's, both fronts and backs can be switched to make other versions also.

My idea, with frontside text subject to change (notice the fake DP font).
Insert DP logo wherever appropriate.

I haven't scanned my pictures that I have drawn yet, but here they are to insure that you at least have an idea of what they are:

1.) Front - a logo that says "DP" in graffiti style in the top left corner

Back - a Wizzard standing on the same DP logo and under the DP logo it says, "The Wizzards of Classic Gaming"

2.) Front - another DP logo in graffiti style but looks different than the logo of the first one.

Back - The same DP logo from the front but bigger. In the background of the logo, there is an Atari 2600 joytsick and a NES controller and underneath it has a caption of "A Little Old School Flavor For Ya"

OK, I've "taken it all in so far".

I LIKE a lot of the entries, but there isn't one that's nailed it yet. The world tour is a pretty good idea, I like the one with the baby and the joystick on the front, I even like Wavelflack's "are you coming". There are a few others that have things about them that I like. Someone needs to get the good ideas together into one PERFECT concept. Think like a marketing person - you want someone to see your shirt and feel COMPELLED to visit the site (if they're into videogames)!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far... don't give up yet! Just a few days left to get your entry in.
