I thought it would be interesting to see how many people blow into their Games.
I don't blow into my games, And advise others to do the same.
How about you?

I will blow on the cart first, but if that doesn't work I generally lick it.
Gross, I know.

Yes, if it is something ridiculously common I will blow in it. If it is say Mega Man 5, or Dragon Warrior IV, then no, it gets a good cleaning. And if it still doens't work, it gets a good spanking! :P

You know, I've tried to stop many many times before, but old habits die hard. If an NES game won't work, I blow into it, not even thinking...it's a knee jerk reaction.
Oh well, blow till I die I guess. :(

I never blow into the games it's one of the worse things you can do to it. The copper contacts inside the cartridge oxidize. when you blow into them it makes it worse. so the more you blow the more the game will not work in the future.

I honestly don't think you'll be able to blow a game to the point of it not working, not in this lifetime at least.

Dust, usually. It seems I'm orally fixated.
Perhaps I should switch to rubbing alcohol.

OK, since i didn't state why i don't blow into my games in the first post, Here goes:
I don't blow into my games Very often- I only do it once per year without thinking, On average.
I never had a game system until 2002, So that is one reason why i don't blow into my games.
I've always thought that it makes the game's condition worse, Just as stevec1636 said. I Almost always use Q-Tips & Rubbing alcohol.

Works like magic
For NES games I ALWAYS blew into them. I haven't had a problem with other consoles. Except my dreamcast was being stubborn reading discs so i blew on the laser "to get the dust off". Probably not a smart idea though LOL

Back in the day, I used to blow. But I don't seem to have any problems these days, touch wood. I would imagine, though, faced with a cart giving me problems, I would blow again.
Once a blower, always a blower.

I have never had to blow into any of my games, mainly because my NES works perfectly. If a game ever did have a hard time working, I would give it a good cleaning.

I blow into common games that I don't care about when I'm in a hurry other wise I just clean them really good.

I blow into them sometimes. Normaly I just use either rubbing alcohol or distilled water to clean them and a non lint fabric to dry them off with. So far its worked like a charm. As its worked like this for 20 years, I see no harm.

i dont thing i have ever admitted this before but I blow. And that sucks.
ps (what is a Q-tip?) I assume cotton bud. But have always wondered, being from a country that spells colour correctly.
I use my official Nintendo cleaning kit with the wand and system cleaner. Works like a charm.

I have been blowing and will continue to be blowing into my games for as long as I live and play them, I figure. The whole, "Blow into the game and it speeds up how the copper oxidizes is true, but I've never heard of a NES game not working because people were blowing into it. In fact, I know people that have never cleaned their games but just blown into them, and they work.
The reason why it works is supposedly because the wetness makes the surface area slightly larger, meaning the bent NES connector can make contact with it better. If you don't want to blow, get a top loader. I only have to blow on games when I'm putting them into my NES Sharp TV Combo. When they go into my top loader, they're just fine :)

Agree. I use to blow on the games like 10 years ago and they still work fine.

A Q-tip is the brand name for a cotton swab.

HI, ALEX!!
Recently I replace the 72 pin in my toaster NES and after that I began cleaning my carts (with a "cotton swab" and rubbing alcohol) before I play them. But once after doing that a game glitched up and so I blew it :embarrassed: but I felt real guilty afterward. LOL

ok, let me correct what i said, what i ment to say is that the more you blow into your games the more the copper will oxidize. and the more that happends the more you will have to blow into the games, until you have to blow into it every time you want to play it.
Yes, I blow my carts (into them that is)! Of course, only when they won't work. It that fails, the compressed air is next. Then comes the rubbing alcohol and the q-tips. If that fails, I switch to other means I will not list here (yes, I'll do anything to get a game to work).

I don't blow into them anymore. A security bit and an eraser, plus a little alcohol and q-tip to polish it off works wonders.

I used to blow into my nes games, but no longer. Just take your nes apart and bend the pins so theres a better connection. And as long as your games are clean, you should never have any issues, except having to rebend the pins every once in awhile.

Of course.
I use a vinyl eraser, alcohol and q-tip, and my very old NES cart-cleaning stick. It usually works, but you do get some stubborn ones. (N64 rental games....*shudder*) Blowing into them gets them to fire up in most cases.

Yes, I have been blowing in games since I was a kid and I still do today. If a game doesn't work the first time I try it, I clean it with a q-tip and then try again. Blowing is a last resort if that doesn't work. It really does work like a charm, though.

Do you blow into your game Carts/Memory cards?
Yep... :P ..I can't seem to break the old habit..
Only Cart Games however..
Then I always wind up cleaning them with some sort of cleaning method I use.

No, I don't. I usually scrub the pins with rubbing alcohol vigorously, and then it works pretty faithfully.
