You all know what I am talking about. Regardless of what new, fun game you have, when you get bored, you end up playing the same game over and over and over. You don't realize you are doing it, but you are. I noticed myself doing this with the Burnout series. I also do this with capcom vs snk 2.

I found out that I have a bad habit of doing that. I will go out and buy 5 games in 1 week, and still go back to playing burnout 3 or something instead of one of the games I have bought.

I also find that I play alot of super mario world as well. when i am at my friend's house, instead of playing doom 3 or halo 2 or something, i end up playing super mario world.

what games make you guys do that?

I do that a lot with games like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, and most recently Spikeout: Battlestreet. Just mindless fun.

Me loves some beat 'em ups!

I keep going back to Galaga on NES when I get bored of the new games I get...or, I start playing NFL 2K1 and end up playing that religiously whenever I have new games..Then after a few weeks I'll finally end up playing the new games...but I always end up going back to Galaga

More than any other game I'd have to say the Dreamcast release of Daytona USA (AKA- Daytona USA 2001). Just the announcement of this game is what made me purchase a Dreamcast and I still play it once or twice a week for at least a few hours. While the network racing on the SegaNet is gone it's still the greatest port of the modern arcade classic and actually surpasses the arcade version in terms of graphics and features yet remains true to its roots. A loving tribute to a game that's still insanely popular and fun to play in the arcade and the true swan song for the Dreamcast in the US. :D

Aside from that, Sega Classics Collection is quickly becoming another game I return to every couple days for hours at a time.

Jet Grind Radio(Dreamcast)

This game is just simple pick up and play fun, it's the kind I can play for 20 minutes before work and go. Without having to watch long cutscenes/wait for a time to save. It never gets old.

Tony Hawk series(any)

Mainly for the same reasons as JGR, simple, quick fun that anyone can enjoy for a few minutes. Not to mention while listening to some pretty good music. I always like playing this with a couple friends, passing the controllers back and forth trying to outdo eachothers scores and making up stupid lyrics to the songs. :)

Grand Theft Auto(Any of the ones on PS2)

These games just never seem to get old, I play all 3 every once in awhile on and off and just have some good old mindless violence(which is alot of fun)

Halo 2(Xbox)

I can pretty much play this anytime and never get bored of it because of Xbox Live. I've gotten alot of new Xbox games lately, but this is still the one I always come back to.

I feel so gay. I've been playing through GTA III and Vice City and I totally love everything about them. I know that everyone bought these games but I never really paid much attention to them until recently because I finally got the xbox versions. I have them for ps2 and my roomates from college used to play them all the time but I just never cared. I am just really enjoying trying to get 100 % completion on both of these games. Next up Pirates! and San Andreas on the Xbox.

At the moment, I can't seem to stop playing Spikeout Battle Street. Unlocking the boss characters and playing with other people online is a blast!

I fall perfectly into the category of "guy who goes out and buys a ton of games, but then doesn't play any of them because he finds something else he'd rather play first." The problem is that I never find the same game it seems. I recently bought Sonic Heroes for the Xbox. Haven't opened it yet. But when I was putting it on the shelf, I realized I still hadn't devoted enough time to Spikeout Battle Street, so I've been playing that since then.

I've returned to the Tempest 2000 series time and time again, and although I've nearly beaten every incarnation, the original Jaguar version which is the superior one hasn't seen half as much attention as the others have recently.

I also do play Super Mario Brothers 3 at least once a year.

Gotta be Warioware for GBA and DS. Gameplay in its purest form. :)

Bubble Bobble. 100+ levels of goodness with random powerups, plus another 100+ levels of Super Bubble Bobble built into the NES cart.. Keeps me occupied all the time! now all I need is some other versions besides NES for my collection.....

For me, it has to be Super Punch-Out on the SNES. I always come back to that game time and time again. I can't say it sucks that much of my time since beating all 16 boxers only takes a bit over a half-hour but I still play it again and again and again...

Phantasy Star Online. That game owns my soul. I clocked thousands of offline and online hours on numerous characters.....I've been playing it steadily for 5 years.

I still play the Dreamcast and both of the GameCube versions. Dreamcast is nice because the character maxes out at level 100....but the exp requirements are tougher. Cube maxes out at level 200 so it's a longer haul overall through a bigger game world.

I recently switched systems to the Xbox from the PS2 and this time I'm only buying games after I've finished some of the ones I own already. I don't want to get sucked into that trap again of buying 5 games a week and having them sit around. When I dumped the PS2 I easily had 30 games that had never seen a disc tray besides watching the opening FMVs.

Current Game: ESPN NBA 2K5. Go Pistons! If I only have less than an hour to game I throw that in to get my fix.

Classic Game: Mike Tyson's Punch Out. It was the first game I bought for my NES way back when and for some reason I still keep playing it every now and then.

Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)

I can't say that I don't notice it though since I play it all the time.

Pokemon Puzzle League (N64)

This game is getting played all the time in my apartment with my roomates and myself. Everybody has their own profile and the matches can get pretty heated sometime. This game is getting played just about every week.

Biggest surprise is probably Fifa 2005 for the N-Gage. I have all but two of the N-Gage titles but I'm always going back to this one. The games are quick and fun to play when I have just a little extra time. This one probably gets the most play of all the games I mentioned since its always with me.

Chrono Trigger, which I am just recently replaying for the 3683793249024th time, is still as addictive and fun as ever, and most recently, I've had a hard time getting myself to stop playing Zoo Keeper for DS. It's probably the best puzzle game I've ever played, and I'm not a big puzzle fan, either.

Gran Turismo (whatever the newest iteration is)

This game CONSUMES me.

I put over a thousand hours into GT3....with the 24 hr races in GT4 I fear I shall do more.

I have an $800 Recaro Racing seat with a Tom's Harness...in my living room, to play this game...connected to the GT4 wheel.

Long after I reached 100% completion in GT3 I would just drive the tracks, different cars, different settings. Trying to get that perfect toe angle with an AE86 or that exact amount of downforce with the Spoon S2000 to keep you planted along the long left-hand corner at the top of Deep Forest.....just after the bridge.

Often I'll think something like the following:

"Gee, I wonder what it'd be like to build an Integra, all NA, but try to tune obscene oversteer into the chassis...."

If it wasn't for Gran Turismo, I'd actually build that car, in real life, I just lack the restraint NOT to do it. GT allows me to build the damned thing in a videogame and save myself $7000.

Thank you Sony.

For the longest time it was Suikoden 1 and 2. But, I played those 2 games some many times over the last 6 or 7 years that I am a little burned out on them. Now, I am very hooked on Fire Prowrestling D. I finally bought a VMU card a couple of weeks ago and so I haven't hardly put the game down. Most of that time has been spent building characters. That sucks a lot of time away with fixing the logic for everyone.

Also, I have been getting really into Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Both are really fun games and I can spend hours at a time playing them both.

If this question had been asked a few weeks ago I would have answered The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the XBox followed by Ridge Racer Type 4 for the Playstation. Lately, anytime I'm bored or have a little free time I usually end up at the Digital Press Arcade playing Asteroids or Mahjongg.

I'm obsessed with Kaboom (VCS) and I don't think that will ever change until I max out the score at 999,999 (I'm half way there though!).

Right now for me that's Burgertime off the PS Midway Colection 2. I can play it loads, and not get sick of it. I'll probably go back to Super Pac-Man soon enough, but for now I'm trying to get to the third cycle of levels on Burgertime. If I plan it right, I don't even use a pepper untill the 3rd screen, and by then I've got around 12 or so. My current high score is in the 90K territory, but a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to play an original arcade BT, and I guess the ROM's on the PS disc are different, cause the food baddies came from the bottom of the screen and walked up to the pathways on the machine, while on the Playstation they come out from each of the corners of the screen. Really screwed up my patterns.

As of right now, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I'm approaching 180%, and probably won't play much else until it's fully complete. And even after that, I'll probably still try and find all the rare items and such.

And then I get to start a Richter file.....:D
