Hey everybody I have had for years this Nes 8-bit controller, it isn't like any other I have every seen and I have been searching online for one like it. It says "Quickshot for professional players" on it. But it is not like any Quickshot I have ever seen. It kind of resembles a stick and u hold it with both hands. The D-pad ends up being under 1 thumb, and the B button under the other. On the top of the pad it has a switch that u can slide over to make the buttons turbo. The B button is Larger than the A button and the whole controller is black. The face which contains the buttons is blue and the D-pad and B button are red. Any info / pics would be great I haven't seen anything like it ever, and I haven't seen it online.
Thank you!

I had one of these when they came out. It's a nifty idea, but totally unpractical. You'll do a lot worse at games using that thing. I guess it's not so much the fact that you're holding it funny, it's the fact that it's poorly manufactured. I remember there being many instances where I would push the B button and it wouldn't fire.

It's probably pretty rare, but it was dirt cheap (about $14) when I bought it new.

not too rare, people just don't know what they are and they usually end up in wierd places in thrift shops (like the toy section and whatever). I've found quite a few of them in oregon. Although it's not typically common to find NES joysticks, i'd venture to say this is the second easiest (or third easiest) quickshot joystick to find.

oh...
and not worth much. someone might pay 10 bucks for... might...

The DP Guide sez:

"Black tabletop joystick design with A and B button “triggers” as well as blue select and start buttons on the base. Also features auto fire."

It's valued at R3/$5.

Thank you everyone for shedding light on this for me it was driving me nuts. I appreciate the prompt responses from all of you. One last question and I know this may seem stupid but, does everyone's 8 bit nintendo have a little grey cover at the bottom of it? Mine does, it has a grey cover that covers a piece of plastic that covers a port. I hope thats not to confusing.

I actually have one of those in the box.

...I tried using it...it sucks. haha.

EDIT: But what about the Quickshot XXI?

It's a big rolling ball with 2 big and 2 little buttons coming off of it...I only found the Quickshot XII in DP..

If I remember correctly, that ball didn't roll. You could move it in 8 directions, and it would click into place. Like all the other Quickshot garbage, it looks neat and does nothing special.

Yeah. I've got one of those as well. It does indeed suck. Got it for a dollar at a Funcoland a few years ago when I was on a "buying damn ugly NES controllers" kick. I call them my "uglies". Also included in my uglies collection are the KNOX 500XJ EPYX (http://vidgame.net/NINTENDO/Nintendo/nes_periph/nes_epyx.jpg) and QUICK SHOT QS-126 (http://vidgame.net/NINTENDO/Nintendo/nes_periph/nes_quickshotark.jpg). Two of the damned ugliest controllers (though interesting) ever made.

I see those controllers at the local flea market all the time, no one ever buys them though. As Qixmaster said most people seem to think it's some kind of little kids toy or something or part from a tabletop motorcycle game or something.

Well if you open your NES up there IS a port under there - dunno what Nintendo planned on using it for but I'm sure someone here in the forums probably does. Really the cover (and the slot that runs from left to right and from the back - meeting in the middle) is made to hold the A/V cables against the base of the system if you want them to leave from the opposite side of where the ports are. ....that sounds confusing.

What I mean is you'll see two little holes each side of the plate, remove it, run your A/V cable through the channels, put the cover back on, and then you'll see how the plate directs the A/V cables to tuck beneath the system.

At least that's what I've always thought the little holes in it were for. LOL

Yes, everybody's 8-bit has that. It was meant to be an expansion port for the Disk System, which never came out over here because by the time they would have had it ready, the mappers in the cartridges were outperforming the disks by a longshot anyway. There is no use for that expansion port, though I've heard of some people running experiments on getting the extra FM-synth sound channels in the cartridges to play on a U.S. system (the disk system had an FM-sound chip, and apparently all the U.S. games are programmed to utilize it; since the U.S. NES has no FM-chip, however, the NES just ignores those sound channels).
