...and I've run into a few odd problems.
#1: if I have my Gamecube hooked to the ethernet hub, I get wavy picture on my VCR. My VCR is connected to the front AV port along with some console but the Gamecube and NES and the rest of the console is connected to the rear AV port. After a bit of troubleshooting, I found if I removied the NES RF switch (BTW the NES is on top of VCR but GC is about 10 feet away) he wavy picture goes away. If I disconnect the ethernet cable from GC or the hub, the wavy picture goes away. if I use Sega or NEC brand auto RF on my NES, the wavy picture goes away. Am I missing something. I've tried a few other NES RF box but all are the same. I tried AV cable tith NES, still wavy picture. I tried hooking the NES to different AV port than VCR, still %^#$@%$$# wavy picture! Where the hell did I leave a roll of aluminum foil?? >:( I can't tell at this time if the hub is to blame or if the NES is to blame. (Thanks a lot Nintendo for not checking for RF interference with your 15 year old product!)
#2: 6 power strips and I still need more to hook up my Atari 7800 and my planned PS2 I might do away with all the power strip and build my own version as many of the power supply brick are space hogs and most powerr strip aren't spaced apart for this. I'll probably use several outlet boxes with a few inches between boxes to get me about 24-32 outlets total. Do monster strip exists or would I have to build one? I figure about $0.50 per duplex outlet, $1.50 per box with cover, and $0.15 per foot of electric wires. The bright side of this would be a lot less messy wires behind the console shelf.
#3: I'm also running out of available ports on my AV switch box. The one going to the front is full, and the 2 to the back (one is daisy chained to second) has only 2 ports avfree (this is factoring in future PS2 plan and converting older consoles to AV)
#4: once I'm actually done cleaning and organizing the room, I'll post the room pics. I know I promised them ages ago but it seems no matter how hard I tried, I never get my room organized enough to take any pictures. Right now, a picture of a local landfill is more organized than my room. Can you suggest any cleaning maid who won't clean my wallet, won't quit or committ suicide on the spot?
On the shelf with my VCR, there's a small space where I could tuck in a front loiading console. It's too small for NES or most USA console but I have a chance to grab a $30 Coregrafx (no AC adapter or power cable, 1 controller but it works) Is it worth the Coregrafx instead of a PC Engine adapter or a switch mod? I do wish to get a number of PC Engine games that are never ported to US TG-16
#6: need a plan in case I add XBox, CD-i, 3DO, Fairchild Channel F, Astrocade, or Neo Geo as they are the only consoles I don't have and don't plan on getting it now.
#7: oh yeah, the 3 AV switch boxes I have are the black 5 port box that resembles PS2. (may get #4 to get 4 more ports added) The snap on name plate helps but they didn't provide one for every single consoles. Would it be better to paint over the extra ones and use white out to write on names, or print out really small labels and stick them on the extra tabs?
One last thing, when I'm done I may test all the consoles to make sure it all works. If any of you near Flint/Saginaw area notices a sudden brown out or even a blackout, that's probably because I turned on everything at once. LOL LOL LOL And I need a new TG-16 (bare console is OK). The last one I have won't work anymore.
