Just for kicks I went to TRU last night.

Picked up Twisted Metal 3 and Spyro: Ripto's Rage for $1.50 each, and Pinball e-reader cards for like 30 cents or something.

Also took my PSP back to Target and returned it. The dead pixels I could live with, but the air bubbles in the plastic over the screen I could not. So I returned it and went to ebgames and bought one there (target had none in stock) and got the extended warranty while I was at it. Unfortunately the new one has either an air bubble or a glob of shit under the screen. Im going to have to return this one too. ANYWAY, while I was at EB, some guy game in with a dualshock controller that he wanted to trade in for cash, so I bought it off of him for $5. Now I have 2 controllers for my PS2. :)

Yesterday, I got Mafia (XB) for $8 new at EB.

I spent a half-hour trying to figure out whether I should buy Phantasy Star Online III: Card for $15, Lost Kingdoms 2 for $10 or Final Fantasy X-2 for $10 there. I'm still trying to figure that out...

Story time!

On Thursday I placed an ad on my local town's webpage asking for old video games. I got several inquiries, but nothing too note-worthy (By the way, if you live in a smaller town, or heck, even a bigger town, I highly recommend that you do this if you're looking for games. I'm still getting offers).

Anyways, one in particular caught my eye. It said, "I have an Atari and 80 games -- make offer." (Don't you just hate when they do that? But, I digress.)

I e-mailed her back and we began conversing about the system. We finally settled on a price, and I made plans to go see her.

Well, I went up there today. <s>The first thing I noticed is that she did not have 80 games, but still, it was a good deal of them. </s> (EDIT: Upon further inspection, it turns out that there were about 80-85 games in the box. Who knew?) And, heck, I only had five. So, I agreed to buy it off of her.

Here's a picture to kind of give you a clue as to how many:

http://free.angeltowns.com/gapporin/Atari.jpg

Neat, eh?

She also had a 4-switch Woodie with it along as well. I tested it when I got home, and sadly, it seems to be dead. I'll post more details on that in the Restoration Forum. But, no worries. I just pulled out my Jr. and began to play.

Nothing was really rare in the pile of games, although I did get a handful of R3's though:

Asteroids (Sears Version)
Burgertime
Coconuts
Fast Eddie
Ghostbusters
GI Joe: Cobra Strike
Kool-Aid Man
Porky's
Skate Boardin'
Star Ship

Oh yeah, the final price? $35. Not too shabby, I say.

Nothing much recently, picked up Nightmare of Druaga today -- I've heard absolutely nothing about this one and figured at the very least it's worth supporting Namco for updating their lesser-known franchises.

Perhaps I'll even play it later. :D

Been a while since I've been here. I must say there have been plenty of changes since I have been gone :)

Anywho, my "big" find from the past couple months was...

State of Emergency - PS2
Madden 2001 - PS2
Madden 2002 - PS2
Madden 2003 - PS2
NASCAR 2001 - PS2
NASCAR 2002 - PS2
ATV Offroad Fury - PS2
SSX - PS2
Tony Hawk Pro Skater - PS2
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 - PS2
Mario Sunshine - GC
NFL Street - GC

All with DVD cases, cover art, and instruction manuals. Whoever took these to the un-local thrift took great care of them, and was evidently a sports fan. Oh well, for 4 bones each, not too bad of a deal.

That was a pretty good idea, Gapporin. Only makes me wish I thought of something like that sooner. May I ask how actually you went about doing this though? Did you e-mail your townhall or something and then placed an add? Would you have a link to your inquirery still?

Here's my town's webpage:

http://www.rollanet.org/

They have a online classified section which can be found here:

http://shopping.rollanet.org/

Now, my town's pretty big (relatively speaking, of course. Where I live, the population is around 15-20 thousand). A lot of littler towns often visit this webpage for garage sales, want ads, et cetera. In fact, the lady whom I bought the Atari games from lived about 10 miles away from here.

Here's my inquiry:

http://shopping.rollanet.org/cgi/index.cgi?mode=view&viewcategory=Toys_and_Games&adindex=414564204680

The neat thing is, is that all the want ads get deleted after 5 days. That way, you can keep checking back every week for fresh garage sale listings. I find it especially helpful that way.

But, for you, I have no idea how you would go about this. I guess you could call your town hall and ask if there is a local webpage of some sort. Or, you could pick up a town publication or welcoming pamphlet and see if they have more information about that sort of thing. And, if worst comes to worst, you could always place an ad in the paper. Whatever you decide to do, good luck! :)

Well, in reality I didn't pay anything. I had another deal where the buyer of a previous item still owed a little more. I spent some time waiting for the final payment, but finally just decided to end it when this was offered up. I will probably sell it on Ebay to recoup the final price we agreed on. If one were to ask how much was spent in all, that number would be $50.00. Which is another story for another time. LOL

Well, I got a quite the large amount of mail today....

First package was small and had:

Genesis - Shining Force (box only)
Genesis - Herzog Zwei (box only)

The other package was BIG and very heavy and contained all 250 or so of the genesis boxes I won recently on ebay...Damn box was almost half as large as my shelves. Here's some pics:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/hellvin/genny0011.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/hellvin/genny0021.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/hellvin/genny0031.jpg

Lots of good ones in there. Tons I need. The boxes were almost all shrinkwrapped, so I didn't open to many of them, but a few that I did had manuals and Dinosaur's Tale had the cart. Some I'll use as replacements. I'm probably gonna strip down the 10 or so of sonic 2 and jurassic park boxes I have and use the cases. Thanks to this lot, the only loose game I have now is Action 52.

I went to EB because I got a $10 gift card from my girlfriend's parents for my birthday (today) and I wanted to use it toward an incredibly sweet Logitech PSP case. None in stock and nothing else interesting in the store.

Perturbed, I went to GameCrazy. There I got:

The Logitech case I was looking for - $20 new
Dark Savior for Saturn - $13 used but minty!
Air Force Delta Storm for PS2 - $16 new, sealed

I am most excited about finally getting the PSP case (searched for about 2 weeks).

I also finally found Spikeout for XBox ($30), and a complete longbox SF Alpha for $7 yesterday.

The "spring thaw" is hitting the local thrifts early! Came away with some Odyssey2 lovin, all for $2 each:

PT Barnum's Acrobats
Football
Freedom Fighters
War Of Nerves
Pick Axe Pete

There were about 8 other titles there I left b/c I already had. Looked around for a console but no luck. Don't you just hate it when you go to the thrifts, find a big stack of carts (esp something slightly oddball like the O2) in one part of the store and the frikkin console is nowhere to be seen?

was gonna hit the local mall, and passed so i figured i hit a pawn that i go by anyway. walked in saw some n64 games laying around (go figure) nothing of interest so the owner asked me if i needed help. i was like prozac.....not. i inquired about the prices of the n64 games praying i don't get the $10 buck or more gesture and he told me to my surprise i could snag em for a buck a piece. the weird thing is as i was gigling inside after the good news i see a stack of gameboy games behing the desk and ask how much for those. he says $8 a piece  can't figure that one out......oh well i got a good deal on the n64 games so me get the 4 games all loose

got a couple of dreamcast games from gamestation:
The Nomad Soul
Record Of Lodoss War

wierd thing is that this gamestation keep their "retro" stuff in the window cabinet and have to unlock that to get into the stuff, so the guy went through a little door and passed out the dreamcast games for me to look at. they seriously need to put more of that stuff inside the shop, i always see people looking in that window but no-one ever really goes and asks them for that stuff

i also ordered these from the internet (japanese only games)

Alright, one of the advantages of working nights is that I got to go to GameCrazy at 10:10 AM today! Due to being a budget person, I restricted my buying, but man, there was tons of stuff worth buying! The only disappointment was that the inventory had Secret of Mana listed but the manager couldn't find it 9drat, must of be put aside for one of them employees...) Oh well, I got the following:

Genesis:

Warsong (the only really rare game I got)
Landstalker
Gunstar Heroes

NES:

Burgertime
Double Dragon

SNES:

Lufia & The Fortress of Doom
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Paladin's Quest
Secret of Evermore (I got the sequel at least...)
Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems
Super Mario Kart
Soul Blazer

Word of advise: There might actually be a limit. I'm not sure because I got lucky and the cool manager was working. After the first 9, the last three games which were the NES games and Paladin's Quest were not registering for the 3 for $15 deal. She decided to do two seperate transactions so it worked out, but this could mean that there is a limit. I hope none of you guys have a-hole workers serving you when you stop at your GC's. Then again, maybe it was just an error.

Anyway, I will be heading back soon, they have some sweet Game Gear stuff and by the sound of it, when the employee was searching in the back for Secret of Mana, she was back there for almost 10 minutes. All I heard was a bunch of carts clanking, my store must have a huge over stock! Dman, I saved about $100 :D :D :D

Bust-a-Move

NES:
Megaman 2

From Salvation army:

Gen - Triple Play gold edition (picked it up because it was complete and mint)

Also scored a pretty nice stack of LPs from salvation army.

I would imagine that I'll be going back to GC sometime in the next few days.

What exactly is an m2??

A Panasonic Consoel that never got released! IIRC it was due to be released around the same time as PS1 yet the graphics could match a PS2 or possibly better...

http://assembler.roarvgm.com/Panasonic_m2/d2-3.gif

Developed by 3DO, and sold to Matsushita for one hundred million dollars, it was to kill the playstation. However, given the market, and the parent company's unwillingness to go against Sony, the M2 was shelved. Several games were completed for M2, among them D's Diner 2 by the eccentric Eno of WARP. See pics below.

The person responsible for the deal was demoted from a high position at matsushita, and was placed in charge of a FISH CANNERY on an island far south of Japan.

Needless to say this is the coolest thing a hardware nut like me has had since sliced bread.

Alas, not many units survive. Not very useful without software, as the box is really just a cd-rom interface, no real hardware inside.

Later used in interactive DVD units (released?), the M2 hardware was last being touted for use in smart appliances, like toasters (?!!!).

Given the better than Playstation level graphics, M2 might have stood a chance if Matsushita hadn't pulled the plug. We might all be anticipating M3 these days, instead of Gamecube and X-BOX.

Either way its a piece of gamign history!
