Hi,
Does anyone know the difference between Real Sampler V1 and Real Sampler V2 for the 3do? Do they have the same content? I wouldn't think so, but I'm having a hard time finding any info on them, the guide doesn't list id#'s or anything for them either. Any help?

do you have a pic of the covers?

I remember four volumes of the 3DO sampler disc... but the "Real Sampler" could be something different. Yeah.. a pic of the cover would help me identify 'em. The sampler discs I remember came in a simple little cardboard slipcase.

I read about them in the guide and found this picture of one of the covers. I'm guessing they were bundled with 3do, perhaps v1 with fz-1 and v2 with fz-10?? These are different than the 3d0 interactive samplers (four of those). I'm just wondering what's on these, when they were released, or basically any information on them.

I don't know of the differences, but I'm pretty sure that there was a 2 Stupid Dogs cartoon on one of them, which made them the best pack-in ever, in my opinion :D

actually it had not only a 2 stupid dogs cartoon (the one where the cant figure out how to open the auto doors at the supermarket), but it had a batman the animated series cartoon as well (with mr freeze). as for games it has a sampler from shelly duvalls birds life (the old ball under three coconuts that get shuffled around game), a sample of pga golf, and a mini driving game demo that i believe was exclusive just to the demo disc. you could also learn how the 3do works, and go to a virtual museum that let you see clips of upcoming games! it was a pretty cool demo that offered a little bit of everything, which i have not really seen until the psp demo disc (although nothing is playable :( )

Wow, 2 tv shows and an exclusive (perhaps) racing game. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this before. So that's the content that's on v1? Pretty cool
Anyone know what's on v2 (or is it the same as v1)? Were these bundled with the 3do?

Yep, I have this disc, and everyone's descriptions are spot-on. The one thing I'd like to add is that a lot of the previews for games in the virtual museum either didn't come out, or came out in vastly different form.
I took some captures a while back for an in-progress 3DO retrospective I've been working on (well... not really working on it much right now... but eventually I'll finish it... one day).
The EA-developed racer mini-game, "Road Race." It has five tracks (I think), but there's no real "game" there. You just race around the track endlessly. The frame rate is pretty awful too, but it's a cool piece of history:

A still from the 2 Stupid Dogs cartoon (note that the video quality is pretty good, especially compared to early Saturn or PS FMV):

A picture of the never-released 3D Football (by Acclaim, of all companies!):

There was another Acclaim game in development generically titled "3D Adventure" that was also canned. Another weird one is called Univseral Studios Orbital, which looked like it would have combined side-scrolling and some point 'n click adventuring/puzzle-solving. All of these unreleased games are, unfortunately, represented by still pictures, most of which look like renders or "concept gameplay shots."
