View Full Version : Obscure collections you'd like to see

With all the collections and rehashes that have come out recently, I started thinking about obscure game collections that could possibly be put together. It would be neat to be able to buy a commercial disc full of emulated Emerson Arcadia games, for example. But then I wondered who, if anyone, would actually buy them. So, if any of these collections were offered for your favorite current-gen system (assuming the games were faithful ports/emulations), would you buy them new?
1. All Channel F games
2. All RCA Studio II games
3. All Odyssey2 games
4. All NUON games
5. All Coleco tabletop arcade games
6. All Microvision games
7. All Entex handheld games (including Adventurevision)
8. All Emerson Arcadia 2001 games
9. All APF Imagination Machine games
10. All original Magnavox Odyssey games, with things like screen overlays shown on screen, and game pieces on subscreens
11. Video recreations of old-school electronic board games, like Stop Thief, Dark Tower, Electronic Detective, etc.
12. All Coleco Telstar games, including the Telstar Arcade games
13. All Watara Supervision games
I doubt we'll ever see ANY of these made available, but it can't hurt to dream. Can you think of any other obscure collections you'd like to see?

I wonder if we could petition Sega to release a SC-3000 compiliation pack...

To answer my own post, I'd be all over the Odyssey2 collection of course, and wouldn't hesitate to buy the Arcadia 2001, NUON, or original Odyssey collections either. I'd probably spring for the Coleco handheld collection too if I had the extra money. The others I'm not so sure about... I'd have to sample more of the individual games before deciding.

I'd love a plug-n-play featuring the best of the O2, including the following:
Super Bee
Freedom Fighters
UFO
KC Munchkin
KC's Crazy Chase
Killer Bees
Attack of the Timelord
Pick Axe Pete
Robot City
Plus the Voice, Keyboard Creations, Type-n-Tell and the O3 game Flashpoint
Throw in a cartridge slot while you're at it for homebrews and yard sale finds!
What I dream abut, though is someone releasing new Vectrex with the old games, a slot for carts, and all the color vector games from the arcades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can dream can't I?
Oh, and if they released an O2 Cd, you'd have to be able to access the Master Strategy components onscreen...

I'd probably grab the Adventurevision stuff myself. I'd take the Nuon before it, but as I only need 1 game now then there'd not really be much point on that respect!

I'd love to get a Splatterhouse trilogy disc or a game containing all of Alex Kidd's adventures.

I know the game has been done allready but i would like to se an Intellivision collection packed in with an Intellivision controller that plugs into the PS2/GC or X-Box, the Intellivision Lives game for PS2 and GameCube is great but the games suck to play with a regular controller. I need the original controller to play these games on a different system.

it would be nice if some company bought the rights for as many of the old arcade beat 'em ups and made an yearly outlet of a two dozen or so of them in a compilation. that, or having squaresoft or enix release some of their non-us titles here with translations and various extras.

A pre-NES RPG CD! Or even better (IMO) a pre-NES RPG UMD!
Tron 2.0

MetalGear collection MSX version of corse.
I would like to see ports of classic PC games to console. I'm sure that the Xbox would have no trouble running Baldur's Gate, as an example, and it would be easier than playing it on a PC.

I myself would love to have a complete Ganbare Goemon/Mystical Ninja collection released in the US, but of course no such thing would ever happen...

I'd love to get a Splatterhouse trilogy disc or a game containing all of Alex Kidd's adventures.
Gotta make it a four game comp - Wanpaku Grafitti needs to be included, or the Splatterhouse disc wouldn't be complete. If Namco would just listen to me, it'd happen... but what are the chances of THAT happening?
I'm with you on the AK collection - maybe Sega would even include the BMX Trial game and Lost Stars arcade game? That'd be great.
How about a Capcom disc with Section Z, Sidearms and Forgotten Worlds (all arcade, of course)? I'd buy it for Forgotten Worlds alone.

Well, it's probably not extremely obscure, but I'd love to have a collection for any current gen system with all good Amiga shoot em ups on it (Battle Squadron, Hybris, Xenon 2, Uridium 2, X-Out, Apidya, Project-X, SWIV, Datastorm etc)

Rare should release some sort of redux collection of their older games (Slalom, Time Lord, etc) on the XBox, or even the GBA/DS if they're still doing the handheld thing.
Also, some sort of Kirby collection for the Cube. Just hope they don't cut out the obscurer ones (like Avalanche or Adventure) although they might have to cut Super Star for something like this.
And a bit of derail, but I can only hope for Sammy VS. Capcom.
