I picked up area 51 yesterday and contrary to some reviews I like it. Midway has done an excellent job at keeping the pressure on you while your traveling through area 51. There is non stop waves and waves of enemies. Waves in a good way not like batman rise of sin tzu. The story pulls you into the game from the start. One alien that ripped my teammates head off made me so mad after I killed him I went back and shot him in the head. Some reviews say it is to repetitive to me it is repetitve in a good way. You see although you are constantly getting attacked you have objectives to complete and teammates to help. Through the battles you draw a bond with your teammates. The graphics (xbox version ) are great action furious. Its funny I played both demos although the action was there it seemed I needed to be caught up on the info of what was going on. In the game when I arrived at the demo scene I knew what exactly was going on and I was off into it.

If you love sci fi and alien conspiracy stuff & X files David D. I say great game. I give it a 9.2 . It's funny in doom 3 enemies attack repetively reviews say great. I Commend Midway. I am starting to thing that some review organization are heavily biased and have other issues with the company. Gamespot gave this review 7.2 no way is this a 7.2 at least a 9.0 on a magazine level.

I love the Area 51 arcade. Is the new Area 51 game, light gun compatible?

Doubt that. Looking at the screenshots it looks like a First Person Shooter, which sux on consoles imo.
And I also enjoyed Area 51 on arcade back in the days :)

Ok, as i thought. I never liked FPS for consoles. Playing a FPS with a pad is impossible for me, I must have a mouse and keyboard :)

I've been anticipating this game ever since I played the demo last year. It had a very different feel from other FPS's. Lots of enemies and fast action. In some ways it reminded me of games like Robotron or Smash TV, except from a first-person perspective.

I hope the final version lives up to the demo. I'm glad to hear that the action doesn't slow down later in the game. The review scores, while not amazing, have been pretty decent. Gamespot's 7.2 is still "good", according to their ratings system. Most of the complaints seem to be about the voice acting. I'll probably pick it up for the PS2 when I see it on sale.

If you want a FPS game that is like Smash TV, get Serious Sam 1 and 2. Here you get in small rooms to huge areas filled with ALOT of enemies and you have to kill all before you can move on to the next area.

Is Area 51 like this too?

Serious Sam is also one of the games which is so to say impossible to beat on the hardest level.

yeah its dark and you have a flashlight that you can turn off and on. Things just come from all over. To me dave d voice fits right in the game atmosphere his narration goes along with the story.

Just a minor thing - Serious Sam 2 isn't out yet; the "2" is, for the moment, Serious Sam The Second Encounter (Serious Sam SE is the official contraction). I don't think it looks very good anymore - plays quite well though! Area 51 has looks to spare.

Well, I was expecting a bit more from the game, but I guess after all the awesome effects got put in they realized it was back to blast doors and hazard strips :/

GameSpy gave it a 3/5 score - fair. I'm not surprised.

Well.. :P Serious Sam Secound Encounter is Serious Sam 2, 2nd game in the series.
But I know there are gonna be a new Serious Sam which is titled "Serious Sam 2". But still, it would fit the description that i made to Smash TV even if it isnt released yet :)
