Amusing Sony PR quotes

Lorddamien27 of the CV Dungeon Forums has spotted (http://www.forumplanet.com/classicgaming/castlevania/topic.asp?fid=7526&tid=1645002) a Sony rep making a rather strange set of assertions (found here: http://biz.gamedaily.com/features.asp?article_id=9490&filter=interview)

Here's the blunder:


PS: With PSP, we are not competing with any product out on the market.
This was interesting enough that Game Daily set it aside.

Later on we read:

PS: PSP shipped with 24 launch titles, more than triple the competition
My thought is that the rep must be switching between two definitions of "competition," assuring us that the PSP really has no direct competition (for what I can tell, that definitely isn't such a shaky assertion given the DS's target audience). What it looks like is a complete contradiction, though.

No blunder. The first statement was delivered by a cyborg replica of the Sony rep, said cyborg having travelled in time from a Nintendo-less future.

Also, where are these 24 launch titles? I only see about half that on the shelves.. not even.. was this the Japan release?

Well DUH!

They dont compete with any product directly. No other thing out of the box really does what the PSP does. Movies/music/pictures/games are all handled by different things but nothing directly is doing all of that.

When it comes to the games thats fine, in the GAMING aspect they launched 24 titles and thats more than either the DS or the GBA launched with, so again a correct statement. They just pick their words carefully and that should really be nothing new or shocking to anyone.
