I've been spending the last year working with a semi-large fan-run convention and am fascinated by the structure and laws governing such a beast, not to mention becoming well acquainted with parliamentary procedure. I was just curious...
If you run or are in the upper echelons of a convention or expo, does your organization have a charter or bylaws? does your organization have a fund that needs to be handled as a business? are you for-profit, not-for-profit, non-profit status, or do you just run everything under the government radar? Do you ignore anything resembling classic parliamentary procedure and just get a few of your friends together and do the best you can?
I'm definitely interested to hear how things are don in the video game fan convention business, so please post your comments, gripes, compliments, anything, I'd love to hear them!
