Anyone know anything about these? I am guessing that one is some sort of e-reader type thing, but in the second pic it looks like it has a cartridge with it.

Any ideas?

While one of them strikes me as an un-exciting, Dragonball gimmick device, I'm very intrigued by the Takara computer thingie. I wouldn't have been, but since it apparently supports a Dig Dug game, it must be at least moderately useful. Where'd you get it? Any story behind it?

I haven't, but if you own these I'd be really interested to know if Dig Dug is actually Dig Dug or some sort of rip off for that first one.

I like wacky stuff like that a lot :)

The Dragonball Z thingy looks like a glorified Barcode Battler system. Basically an early e-reader like device that used barcodes rather than the dots. Each card had a barcode that would translate into some sort of data the sam eway Monster Rancher would use game cds to make creatures.

I'm guesssing there might be other cartridge / card sets that would plug into that.

Curiouser and curiouser.

The Datach Dragonball Z works with a Famicom system, I'm pretty sure it works in conjunction with a game (probably the cart in the picture) and you swipe cards to alter stuff in the game.

And on that note...

...you wanna sell it? :D

I don't own either one of them. A friend of mine took the picture when he was in Japan, he said it was at a flea market type thing, and was priced really high 200,000yen or so (about $200.00).

If it had been cheaper, he would have picked it up for me, as he is instructed to do whenever he goes there :)

Well, the DBZ reader barely breaks 20 bucks when it hits eBay, so yeah, 200.00 is insane!

Bwahaha, if you hold out you can find boxed Datach systems cheaply - WAY under $200, somebody must've stepped into the wrong store. Even eBay prices them cheaper than that, by far. Yeah, the Datach system supports that DBZ game, and I think something mecha-anime too. Whatever, it sucks and you know it. (Oops, guess the price point's already been pointed out.)

As for the Takara system - that's news to me. I'm guessing this is the same Takara that ported Neo Geo fighting games to every system known to man?

Gamechoice club has sold them forever at $49. No Clue what the Takara system is (a clone of something? It's own system? Hmmmm), but the Datach unit was a pretty common Famicom peripheral.

The Takara was the $200.00 one, not the DBZ thing.
