May 10th, download and play PSO BB for free apparently. Not gonna last too terribly long though, couple months i think, then it'll probably go pay.

I'm soooooooooooooo there. Look for me as a orange-haired hunter wearing white named DeeCee, or maybe a blue camo RAcast named Sherman, or possibly a blue-uniformed RAmarl that goes by Becky, or even a FOmar named Cryomancer.

Anyone want to make DP team?

Yeah, I'm in.

I'll probably be creating a brand new character instead of recreating my old one. By the way, what are the sysreqs (system requirements)?

Sounds like fun. I have never played PSO, is it anything like FF11?

It's not like FFXI, much more action based game. It was a great game when I played it back in the days on Dreamcast. Sadly no Mac-version so I have to skip this one. I hope Sega will release a mac-version in the future, the mac-version of Puyo Puyo Fever tasted too good I think.

I'm definitely going to participate in this beta. I havent played PSO since Ver. 2 on Dreamcast. I'm excited to see some of the new features in Blue Burst.

Will the beta be in Japanese only?

I was thinking about trying Phantasy Star today, just because I've never tried it. (Nintendo fanboy, whatever  ) I'm looking forward to this!

By the way, here's the requirements: http://www.psobb.com/guide/pregame/index.php

I have the Japanese version of PSO Blue Burst. It's pretty much identical to the DC version. If you want to play more PSO, well, here ya go. If you were hoping for a lot of new stuff, you're going to be disappointed.

Let me break down a couple questions here:

DC ver 1 was first. Then ver 2 which adds some stuff, weapons mostly, and I think challenge mode.

Then there was a PC version that was basically ver 2, which still to this day has a private/pirate server.

The they make Episode I and II which is what is on cube/xbox. Episode I is basically ver 2. Episode II is enterily new content, new "story", many new levels and enemies and items and even a couple classes.

Blue burst is more or less the same as Episode I and II as of right now, only it features Server-Side saves, which probably means no offline, but a hell of a less cheating, ect. There are also moderators for the first time in ever, and they might actually keep this one in quests better than the old versions. They also are supposedly going to give us episode IV, but that probably depends if it does well or not. (ps, episode III is the card game for gc). So basically you'll be playing a better-taken-care-of version of episode i and II, presumably with more items and probably somewhat better graphics. And if voice chat isn't built in you can use thrid-party programs to pull it off and thereby have a version even better than pso for xbox which was actually really good except the idiots trying to play music over their mic.

This beta is english. The JP beta is already over I think. This is a beta testing (probably a stress test and to rouse interest in the game) for the US. After this I assume it will go pay.

And for the "basically DC" comment...not really. It's got episode II in it already and if it manages to stay popular we'll probably get more in the future.

Correct if your waiting for new PS game then. Hold out for (Pantasy Star Universe) Sega is just porting the hell out, of PSO to make some extra cash.

PS: I've played PSO on DC ver1&2 and.... the Episode 1&2 on the GC too. No more thanks pass!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's true, it isn't really a new Phantasy Star. I however will go give this a shot again, since it sounds like this time they're going to at least TRY and give the US version some support, with quests and the mods and whatnot. I dunno, this sounds like the version of PSO that I could actually stay with for a long time as opposed to having to play on a new platform every year.

Then again I've always loved PSO for some reason, so I guess I'm biased.

Well, I'll be giving it a good workout because:

1: I never got a chance to try PSO on the DC.
and 2: Im a whore for free games

Sounds like fun and you can't go wrong with free. The only thing that will stop me is a lack of off-line play. I hate haveing to rely soley on servers being up to play a game.

Well, a day early, and people are getting in. I've played already. you have to find the client elsewhere though (there's a torrent, and it's a demo disc in CGW). the site should have a download as soon as midnight, latest sometime tomorrow.

Sign up people, we so need a DP team. I've already seen a gamefaqs room, a SA Goon room, and a few names i recognize from the defunct sonic cult.

The Japanse beta is not only long over, it's been in full production almost a year, and Episode IV (yes, 4) has been out for like 3 months now.

AFAIK, the US and JPN servers will not be connected, so for those of us that have multiple characters in ULT, there's no way we'd switch.

Leveling SUCKS in BB. The breakdown is 30-60-100 (instead of 20-40-80). It's online only, even though there's a single-player mode. But, since it's online, you can't just give a character a ton of uber crap, and then go to ULT by level 35. You have to "follow the rules" this time.

I've not played since February. Basically right when Episode IV came out, I quit. I might get back into it again, but still busy w/ other games. I will say this -- they did get it right finally with BB, but it's really what PSO I&II Plus should've been.

The new items are only out in Episode IV, so you'll have to wait until Ep IV comes out to get the new shit. Voice chat isn't built in, so you'll need to use Skype or something.

Well, my computer sucks. Despite this I am gonna play this for awhile probably. I dunno if i'll hop onboard when it goes pay until i get some better hardware or not though.

So far it has been damn smooth though, alrhough i don't get the the having-to-do-missions thing just yet...hopefully i don't have to do them EVERYTIME I make a new room...

but hey, it's PSO, i'm a sucker for this game and alays have been, so I'm gonna play it.

If there are other DP people on, wanna make a team?

That's how you unlock the other areas and the single-player quests now. They're like quests, but people can join (most of them) midway. You'll have to do them for all difficulties to access that difficulties single-player quests, but the areas I believe are unlocked after you beat them on normal. The biggest pain in the ass -- you'll have to do Episode II in normal to play it in Ultimate. :(

Hmmm... wonder if it has Episode IV in it too. THe JPN beta and final release pre Ep IV was only about 350 megs.

This looks freaking amazing. Is this the one where you get to customize your own home?
