I am not kidding. Us Canucks can wave bye-bye to Radio-Shack, as it will be rebranded as "The Source by Circuit City".

Will this be the end of easily-available electronics supplies in Canada? Will we still be able to buy RF switches? That remains to be seen...

Intertan is owned by Circuit City now...a bit of a ways off from the days when they made their own computers, huh?

Yuppers. Thing is, this rebranding makes sense: 1. because in the US Circuit City and Tandy/Radio Shack are competitors and 2. let's face it, Radio Shack hasn't had a good reputation in Canada in years. Radio Scrap was a well-deserved nickname. So I'm not surprised to learn the news.

They've been a fine source for older PC games. It's the only place you can still get Grim Fandango and Thief brand-new these days. Of course, they've been darn stubborn about not lowering their prices, but maybe that'll finally happen now. Last thing I bought there was Moonbase Commander for $7.50 CDN.
I have to wonder how they can afford to keep so many stores going. Maybe there'll be closings! And liquidation sales!
RadioShack is pretty bad for the most part. Well I might have a biased opinion since I worked there. :)
Their prices are really high for most stuff and their own brand name "gadgets" are not well made. However like Jorpho said they're great when it comes to older games. They always have Grim Fandango and Curse of Monkey Island there for $10.

Every Radio Shack I've been to in Canada sucked. They had overpriced console games, really bad outdated PC games, and a poor selection of other computer peripherals. I think it's a good move for both Circuit and Radio Shack. Perhaps now we'll get decently priced CD-Rs and RF switches in the same location!

I wonder if that means more crap will be going to the clearance outlet as they make their changeover.

I don't know.
I don't have bought lots of thing in past year. When i go there, it's for hard to find battery or other knick-knack.
Whoever, before christmas, I bought this pen with a light (very bright and white) on his tip. Very useful when I need to look into a computer case or a server.

As for old stuff...I'm sure my local Radio Shacks (both of them) has cleared out all that stuff long, long ago. I'd be surprised to find any games at mine whatsoever.

They have a clearance outlet?
