Star Fox 64 == Lylat Wars??

Well actually Star Fox 64's story line is about "The Lylat Wars" so it suits well.

Yet what I don't get it. Is why did they choose a name change? Has to be an interesting story behind that.

I think that some european company had already registered Star Fox as a trademark or something, so the original was renamed Starwing for its euro release. Why they didn't just call the sequel Starwing 64 is beyond me, though. :/

There was a game for the C64 called Starfox in 1987, but I'm not sure if that was directly responsible for the name change on the SNES game.

Needless to say, I was a bit surprised the N64 version wasn't called Starwing 64 as well...

Well that's one advantage for the Europeans, orginal titles for the N64. The NTSC crowd always got some name with a 64 slapped on the end of it :p
