Seriously, I've been playing Galaga for the last hour, continuously shooting my own ship and not getting past level 7. So far my high score is 45,000. I'm going to try again later with a little more ambiance (when it's dark), and I'll put in my 1982 CD that I made. I hope I don't get eliminated too early. :(

I'm also seriously tempted to submit one of the obscure Japanese shooting games where I can do really well. :D

Galaga was never a easy game for me, though. I'm trying, but my high score right now is just past 100,000. I'll keep working on it. :)

Galaga is extremely frustrating. It's got a whole risk-reward thing going on, between letting ships get captured for better offensive attack, and leaving red bugs alive so the green ones are worth more points when they dive. Of course, not even taking these things into account, it's still balls-hard. You know someone in the league is probably some sort of crazy Galaga machine though. :)

Right now I'm stuck at about 184,000. I'll improve but not without cursing profusely much more until Sunday evening :angry:

Gah, I can't beleive how bad I am at games sometimes! :/ My high score in Galaga so far is 41,960. And that's after really trying, too! I hope I at least get a spiffy participation ribbon! LOL

Anyways, I'm really not too familiar with that many arcade games, though I'd love to see Mr. Do & Final Fight in the contest. Oh, and as many other beat em up's as possible. I can't get enough of those!

hah, i LOVE this contest already, believe or not, i have never played Galaga before!! this challenge forces me to play some games i really should have played earlier but never found the time :)

i played it for ~45 minutes now, my first round of Galaga ever, and i'm at ~55k, though i see a good possibility to reach >100k because of the bonus life at 70k (and the fact that i almost every time lose my first ship in the first two stages LOL )

omg, i just checked the Galaga World Record and it's at 16mio points, that's insane!!

I never knew that if you shot the dude piggybacking your ship while he was standing still, that your ship would NOT come back, but continue shooting at you. That's a big bummer. It happened to me twice this morning. Looks like I'll be topping out at 60,000, unless I pull off a miracle later this morning. :hmm:

My best in MAME so far hasn't quite broken 30k. However I went to the arcade yesterday and got 60k, what the hell. I'll give it a couple more shots tonight and submit my score yet.

midnight as in sunday night, not as in "midnight is 0:00 and sunday means saturday night", right? :D

Btw, how is the overall winner chosen? From what I understand there will be elimination rounds ... that's cool for me, I just think a cool system would be if at the end, all scores from all games that were played are being added up to one mega-highscore, this way you can make up for games you didn't perform well at with other ones where you were able to dominate :)

i'd like to see either a double-elimination-play-off or if it's single-elimination two games per match, if one player wins the first and another the 2nd then the better losing percentage (loser score compared to winner score) should win the match :)
