im looking at colleges, and the three that i am most heavily considering (whitman, wabash, and grinnell) are in the middle of fucking no where.

gamestop (50 miles)-
grinnell- 3
whitman- 1 (40 miles away)
wabash- 4 (2 20 miles)

ebgames-
grinnnell- 1 (45 miles away)
whitman- 1 (40 miles)
wabash- 6 (closets is 30 miles)

gamecrazy-
grin- 0
whit- 0
wab- 0

gamerush-
grin- 0
whit- 0
wab- 10 (most in in indianapolis, 45 miles away)

now im not letting game store fequency or proximity affect my decision, but how you go about collecting (which i plan on doing) at a place with no local game stores. i know theres always ebay, and im not going to college until the year after next, but any advice would help

There are no game stores within 93 miles of my town. I rely heavily on garage sales, the thrift store, and pawn shops. When I need a new game desperately it's either Wal-Mart or a drive to Billings, MT.

However there is a good side to living in a small area. People don't seem to be as aware of the current fads ( :( yes sadly I believe it has become a fad, short lived I hope)and often sell them cheap here. Basically, whatever is cool on the coasts will be cool here in about a year when its not cool anymore LOL

i got to Juniata College

there is 1 pawn shop in the town that doesnt have much of a gaming selection and 1 good will that has never had anything to do with videogames that i have ever seen

the next closest stores are 2 eb's ... 1 in state college and 1 in altoona....both about 45 minutes away

Since you're looking at the private liberal arts scene, I would recommend looking at schools in St. Paul. Augsburg, Hamline, St. Thomas, and Macalester (go Mac!) are all quality schools. The twin cities has a pretty good retro gaming scene. Several stores within driving distance have tons of retro games. Plus there are tons of thrifts and pawn stores that carry games. Carleton is about 30 miles south of here. It's a good school, but in the middle of no where. Plus then you'd have to go to Carleton so I take that back.

You can always amuse yourself with some vast quantity of games that you bring with you. How much space could you have in a student apartment, anyway? And even if you assembled a massive collection, you'd have to move it afterwards once you finished, or faling that, sell it all off.

Anyway, if they're big schools, there will probably be other students with games.
