i remember when i walked out of my house and i saw a box on the sidewalk at first i hesitated to look in it but i did and found a SMS with 3-d glasses!!!!looks like the new neighbors were throwing out all of the things that the other neighbors left behind. Now i really pay attention to what people throw out.

Found some PS1 games in a trash bin on my hall in my old college dorm. Someone had thrown out a huge box full of jewel cases and accidently let a couple games go with their trash. I think it was MLB 2000 and ridge racer

In my years as an RA I had the dubious pleasure of cleaning out the storage closets at the end of the year. The only real reason I volunteered for this horrible job was that I got to keep anything older than 5 years that was still in storage as it was considered abandoned. Typically it was textbooks, pictures of people I didn't know, and old clothes, but there were the occasional sweet finds that I saved from ending up in the garbage. Most notable was finding a 2600 with 10 games in a box marked 1988 (this was 2002). The box was shoved back behind newer boxes so it had obviously escaped attention before. Needless to say I was thrilled. So while it wasn't in the garbage, it was heading there until I found it. :)

I found a front-loading NES on the side of the street sitting by itself. Fixing it was easy, but it didn't come with any games with it.

Indeed...
Once I was riding my bike down a residential street and say a box on the side of the road next to the trash can. It was a small box, the size of a 13-inch TV. I don't normally dig through boxes on the side of the road, but something made me stop and go back.
I found a working Atari 2600 and about 10 games. That led to my current collection addiction.
I also found two NEs carts in the trash near my house... some common Tengens, I believe.

cant say I have, but I would assume people throw out "blinking nintendos" all the time.

have u ever found games in the trash ?
Yes..lots of times.
Mostly NES decks..(sitting a top a garbage can)
If I go at closing time to the Flea market I'll often find loose carts.Atari, nes, sega cd etc.
I'd say in trash but only because the vendors just leave stuff where they were located in piles..So your not digging in trash but walking by left boxes/piles...
The last thing I found at the flea was a boxed 32X system..
It was just left there with some kids toys in a vendors spot.
The last thing I found in the trash was an Atari 5200 with a few games..They were renovating the house two houses away from me..
As I drove up the street I saw the 5200 sitting on the pile of stuff they were removing out if the house..
It's a 5200 you couldn't miss it..
(and it works too)

While visiting my brother I noticed a SNES controller hanging out of his trash can. Pulled on it to reveal a SNES with 2 controllers and all the hookups. I was also able to intercept 12 games as he was about to throw them out, including Final Fantasy II, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Evermore, and Lufia. All it needed were some very minor repairs, and it has worked perfectly ever since.

But your avatar is a dog. You know, unless there's mold on it, it should be safe to eat!

In NYC, if you put out anything to be picked up by the garbage men that's not actual garbage, it's guaranteed to be picked up by someone.
We've never found any game stuff, but we have brought home several old PCs to see if they had anything useful inside, chairs, a really nice workout bench, a rocking horse, you name it. :) A lot of it ends up going back in the trash, but some things are worth keeping.

Usually not, with the exception of that modchipped first version PS1 I found in the trash pile at the local flea market. Needed a little cleaning, laser adjustment, and a new lid latch but it's been working perfectly.

Yes.
I've found a Gameboy in a dumpster. (Original B&W)
It didn't turn on at first because it had water in it. But after some Accidental draining it works perfectly. It has the battery cover and the Multiplayer port cover.
I haven't found anything else though, Not that i don't look.

I actually found a good condition Model 2 Genesis box in front of my neighbor's house while walking my dog one day. I cleaned off a bit of dust & dirt, and it now sits proudly on my shelf. :D

I found a few Nes games. A friend found a complete-in-box SMS 3D bundle with everything intact, light phaser, 3-D glasses etc...... :frustrated: I was happy for him...it is just that it didn't happened to me...

I generally don't check. Sometimes I'll stop by and just look at the surface of a pile of stuff being thrown out, but I'm not one to dig through it...yet. I'll give in to those urges eventually, probably.
