I've recently run into two copies of Zelda: A Link to the Past for SNES. One is a Million Seller, and the other a normal variation.

I want to begin playing one of them, but since I'll probably end up selling or in some way getting rid of one of them, which one is a better keep from a collector's standpoint (or, which one should I begin playing)? I know it's not a rare game, anbd they're probably both the same value and all, but which of the two would you rather keep if you had to get rid of one?

Just curious.
Thanks.

I think just about everyone here is going to tell you to keep the original, non GH version of the game. Mostly because it doesn't have that hugh green "Million seller" label in the corner. Though it could also come down to which one is in better cosmetic shape and if the battery works better on one. It's really up to you.

Cosmetically, the regular one is what I'd keep...I'm pretty sure LttP wasn't a pack-in at any time, unlike SMW, so you wouldn't say that case-less copies went towards that total. Million seller status might be awarded in advance of 1 million copies sold, but probably not by much - so they might actually (in some cases) be sold in fewer copies than the others. Wow, I'm doing lots of guessing here - somehow, though, I'd imagine LttP sold well over a million, though, perhaps much more.

In any case, collectors usually like the non-GH/Million Seller versions for the unobscured box art and such. I'd go with that version.

This is Zelda, SNES we're talking about, so it isn't a green cornered game... It just has a little label on the cart itself, right?

Personally, *I* would keep the Million Seller one. Million Seller SNES games seem to actually be pretty hard to come across -- I've only seen a few of them. In the twenty or so copies of SNES Zelda I've had pass through my hands, I have yet to see a SNES Million Seller one yet.

It seems that no one really notices though. I was thinking about putting it as a note on the GOAT Store site for cartridges we sell (labeling it a "Million Seller" if it has the label), but it seems that no one really cares until the PSX comes along.

Thanks everyone. Just for reference, I took a quite snapshot of the games to compare them.

http://www.rg3entertainment.com/misc/zelda_compare.jpg

As you can , the differences of the Million seller from the origianl are as follows:
- the top-right bar is gold, instead of red
- the text "The Legend of" and "A Link to the Past" are written in gold, instead of black
- the background is a reddish granite, instead of gold
- "SUPER NINTENDO" in the lower right is gold, instead of red
- there's a rating on the right side
- and of course, the Nintendo million seller award on the right

The cart also sports a different variation (the bottom) and it is made in Mexico, as opposed to Japan, like the original. The tops of the carts are written both the same (the turqouise color text).

I do not have the boxes.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
Thanks.

I'd keep both.

I'd keep both.

That's probably your best bet. I mean you'll likely not going to get anymore then 3 to 4 dollars after paying for shipping.

I'm pretty sure LttP wasn't a pack-in at any time

Actually it was. The "core" system included a copy of LttP sometime from '94 to '95. When I finally got my SNES in March of '95 I got a copy of LttP in the box (the main game I wanted, so I was happy). It had a huge sticker on the SNES box advertising it. There was no reference on the cart or instruction booklet that it was "not for resale" or anything though. And I got the last core SNES that day at Toys 'R' Us.

Oh, and I'd keep both, just because its a great game and I'd want to have a "back-up".
