I just bought 2 but someone has told me that the U.K. Gizmondo won't work in the U.S. Is this true?

Oh and they're not Smart-Add Enabled Gizmondos. They are the more expensive retail versions.

Ummm, why wouldn't it (it's portable)? I forget, is it rechargeable, or does it take standard batteries? If rechargeable, I would imagine it would just invove getting the correct AC adapter.

Can you connect it to a TV (I don't recall hearing you can)? If so, there may be some PAL/NTSC issues.

I think the games and the system would work fine, but the cell phone networks are different. Unless it has been designed to support multiple network types, you couldn't get cell service.

Note: the thing does function as a cell phone, right? :?

You can send SMS, MMS and e-mails with it, but you can't use it as a telephone... those guys at Tiger are really insane x_x

Weird. In that case, I guess it depends on what sort of network it uses to access the internet. :eek 2:

Oh I don't want I pphone in my gamemachine anyway (sorry Nokia :D), I think they use GPRS or UMTS, also the unit is said to support GPS in games, maybe the phonefuncion is needed for that.

Anyway what am I talking about, I think I more like the GP32 anyway.

I don't think Gizmondos work anywhere.

It uses a Sim card, but I don't think it will work with any American ones. The unit should work just fine since I don't think it needs its GPRS network to play the games.

Thanks for all the answers. :D

Basically from what I'm getting so far. The phone sim cards won't work but the Gps might ?

I'll need a power converter, and that should be it.

Well , let's hope it was worth the cost. @_@

No, it will burst into flames the moment it crosses the border. Sorry.

I think it is tri-band like the original N-Gage so it should work in the US.

Aside: There is a Gizmondo ad in the new Game Informer. If it had been a regular phone as well as all the other stuff I would be buying one.

Wait - you bought 2 Gizmondos for 750 Euros and don't even know if they work in your country? Sound weird ;)
