Please, guys, no spoilers. I'm only just getting started :)

I'm just curious. Capcom have made a few changes to the save system (restore points, more save points and an unlimited number of saves at each point). Do you think this has hit the nail on the head? Or do you think this is too little or too much?

Vote away!

I always hated ink ribbon hunting... I don't care if it's supposed to make the game more suspenseful. It didn't for me. All it did was annoy me. I loooove RE4, and the save system definitely helped cement my feelings for it.

I haven't played RE4 yet (is it $20 yet?) but I NEVER ran out of ink ribbons in the previous games. seemed liked the game basically told you when a good time to save was, and as long as you did that, you're set.

I was more than pleased with the save system, it was fine. Didn't bother me, didn't hinder me, didn't make the game easier.

I just gotta say, if any game this generation is going to be considered perfect, it better be RE4.

Even though I'm not far into the game, I feel like there is might be too many save points. I expect this to decrease as the game goes on, though.

As for it being perfect... I don't know. It's still your standard Resident Evil game, which was always far from perfect, just with the most incredible amount of polish and style you've ever seen on a console probably. Some of the cut scenes just left me gob smacked.

i never had a problem with save points done either way, just this way is less a hassle. so i voted spot on..

and i would not say it's perfect, but DAMN close! :) my biggest gripe in RE4 is that there are WAY TOO MUCH AMMO. my favorite part of all the RE games is that at first you are really picking your fights since you start out with such little ammo...

I think I agree with the ammo comment. I think you've actually summed it up pretty well. What I would say, though, is you feel comfortable with your level of ammo (certainly I have to the point I am at), but you NEVER KNOW what is around the corner. If you've played the previous RE games, then you might end up playing this one through in a similiar man - conserving your ammo. So, I don't know if it would really affect the gameplay if you catch my drift.

Have you played Pro mode? I'm having lots of problems keeping ammo on it.

Always hated the old RE save system - just didn't feel that it added anything to the game. It was just annoying for me, a casual RE fan (until RE4...).

The reason there's so much ammo now is that you need it. There are a LOT more required combat scenes in RE4 than any RE before it. Running from encounters is often not an option now. Besides, it's more fun to blow aware the things that go bump in the night than to run from them anyway
