Well I finally got my first import fighting game, and I think it's pretty cool! OK actually it's my second import fighting game, if Blazing Tornado counts as one too, but that's a wrestling game. Anyhow, graphically it's pretty impressive. Very different from anything that I've ever seen with SNK stamped on it before, but that's what makes it cool to me. I wanted to get some of the more popular import fighters for the Saturn, but unfortunately those are all priced like they're alot more popular, and I can't afford to spend alot on a bunch of really expensive fighting games right now. So, this is what I got, and it's basically exactly as it was described in the reviews that I read about it. Killer Instinct with a distinctly Japanese flavor to it. It's very nice to look at, and it seems to play pretty well, but I assume that it's a far cry from the best import fighters for the system, or it wouldn't have been as cheap as it was. I only had to pay $25 for it new, but that was an absolute steal compared to what the original NeoGeo MVS arcade thingy for it costs!

Anyhow, so it's like the bastard child of SNK and whoever Saurus is, and it seems that SNK isn't exactly proud of it. Otherwise, I can't imagine why it was never released in the US like almost every other fighting game in the world was, especially those made by SNK & Capcom. But then again, Capcom never gave us Cyberbots in the US either, and I still have that one on my wishlist, along with a few others. So, for whatever reason, it seems to be rather obscure for a game that has SNK stamped on it, but I'm guessing that they only published it or something, I really don't know. But it's not too bad, and it certainly could've been much worse. I'm sure there's tons of really awful import fighters available for the Saturn as well, and this may be one of them as far as most people are concerned, but as far as I'm concerned, I like it. How can you not like a fighting game where you can play as the Grim Reaper and work your way up to a final battle in Hell with Satan himself? If I had known it had all that, I would've bought it alot sooner!

dj you are correct my friend. It is indeed a port. Many people slammed the game.

I have yet to play the Saturn port... though it's been sitting here for a while now... I'll eventually touch upon it in my obscure games thread.

I'm not a big fan of this one, either. Seems like SNK was trying to jump on the rendered characters bandwagon and came out with this. It's viewed in many N-G circles as one of the weakest fighters on the systems besides the earliest fighters.

Ack

I'm also not a fan of the game, it is anyway the weakest game from Saurus. I think they are better in making other kinds of games as they also made Shock Troopers 1 & 2 (hey why these games were never released on other systems part one isn't even released as home-cart or cd), Iron Clad, Pleasure Goal (not that great but fun with two players) and Stakes Winner 1 & 2 (only horseriding game which is actually fun to play). Ok they also made an even worse game called The Irriting Maze.

BTW Anyone knows what happend with Saurus, was it a part of SNK, a bit like ADK (and Nazca which I think they took over) or was it an independant company like Visco.
