Know I know what the sticker means when you see it on sonic, but has anybody else come accross this? I think that it is 1 of 3 things:
1: It was a pack in game
2: It was an instore demo
3: Somebody took this sticker off something else and stuck it on the game.

If I had to guess, I'd say that it was taken off something else and put on there, or just taken off a store roll of "Not for Resale" Stickers and used as a display model.

I see a lot of things stamped with not for resale. It doesn't make a difference.

I know I'm resurrecting a pretty old thread here but I just purchased a copy of Ranger X from a local Play N Trade and it has a not for resale sticker on it and I was just curious about it.

So this wasn't a pack-in game at any point? It is just a sticker that someone stuck on for whatever reason when this game was in a store somewhere?

There are a couple variants of the "Not for Resale". For instance...Sonic 2 has a not for resale sticker on it..except its not a sticker, its part of the graphic and its made to look like a sticker...these are from the Mark 2 pack ins. Also versions of sonic one say not for resale, but these are also not stickers, just a white line on the bottom of the graphic that says not for resale. If it is ACTUALLY a sticker, I would say its safe to assume that it may of been a copy given to a retailer to demo possibly.

My Ranger X says "not for resale" as well. It's a yellow and black sticker on the cart.

As Genesaturn pointed out, the "not for resell" on other pack in carts from Sega are not a sticker. They are part of the label. I have a pack in copies of Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Streets of Rage 2. All of them are printed on the label and are not stickers. If they are stickers I would way that they didn't come that way from Sega and were probably used for demo purposes and placed there by a store. If it's printed in the label I would say that it was done by Sega.

We have three posters with one of these. You should compare them for uniformity as well.
