So, they announced 2 weeks that their game "Scarface" will be out this fall on XBOX, PS2, and PC this fall.

Now they're suddenly backing out and waiting for the XBOX 360.

I'm having flash backs of Office Space.

Anybody else wondering how many games will be held back for the next generation?

Probably a lot but i could care less. I plan on owning the Xbox 360 (christ what a bad name) and the Nintendo Revolution so right now i'm in savings mode. ($100-150 a month for classic games $200-300 saved for the next gen) so it makes no difference to me if some games get held back. It's standard for the industry to back off around a generation change simply because they know people are saving their money and they'll probably get better sales in the next gen.

Actually, they would get better sales on an established console this fall than on a next gen early next year. More people will have the old console. Bigger audience = bigger sales.

it's not an uncommon thing to shift a game to a "better" console late in the development process (or even cancel it outright). nintendo pretty much doomed the n64 by canning dinosaur planet, resident evil zero, and eternal darkness after showing them is different forms at E3 a few years ago. could you imagine the 1-2-3 punch of these games AND animal forest (animal crossing) if they were thinking ahead? and let's not talk about mother 3 (the n64 earthbound sequel)...

besides, this gives radical (the developer) time to actually do a good job. i'd crack up if they were simply using an enhanced simpsons hit & run engine for scarface, though. anyway, all these crime wave games are being churned out so damn fast that some need to die at retail before people get one or two decent titles before (hopefully) letting the subgenre die a quiet, lonely death
