Is there a major difference between a Japanese Neo Geo AES and an American Neo Geo AES? Are the games region free? Finally do all the games have a language select option or is that set in the system bios and if so can it be changed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are the games region free?yes

the game's language depends on the BIOS region. eg US KoF 98 on a JP console will play in JP

They are technical the same only the bios is different, sadly the AES bios doesn't offer the options MVS does. I can strongly recommand to go for a USA-system with an debug-bios so you can play with blood. The debug-bios delivers a lot of extra options and is easy to install and only costs 15$. So I think that's the best you can get.

Why USA-system though with a japanese system the blood will be in the games no matter which version of the game a get. So i guess the only difference is the language of the game which isn't a big deal in fighting games anyway. I will proably get the unibios for the language problem. Thanks for ya'lls help.

Not to threadjack, but is there a way to play MVS games on an AES system without using some coverter? Seen 1 converter on Ebay some days ago, but i think it was sold for more than what a AES system cost itself.
Also, is it easy to flash the BIOS and is it safe?

From what I know, there wouldn't be a converter if it was possible to play MVS games on AES without it ;) Also, you can't flash the BIOS but you have to replace the chip, which requires soldering on AES systems.

Why not? You have converters for NES for example, but you can easily modify a NES so you dont need any converter :) I also this the Neo Geo adapter was official, not 100% sure.
Ok, too bad you have to solder. Dont think I would try that on a system this expencive.
