Does anyone know of a patch that will allow me to install and run the orginal Diablo under OS X? Currently all I can find are patches for Diablo II.

I've never seen such a patch. The best I could do was just run it in Classic. It ran okay like that, though.

No, actually that's the patch that makes your computer run like shit and become a ton more vulnerable to various forms of malware. Nice try, though.

Hardi-har-har. But we get the last laugh whenever viruses, Trojan horses and spyware/adware rear their ugly heads.
 Chalk one up for the stability and reliability of Unix.

Anyway, enough with the feeding of a Bill Gates fanboy troll...

Getting back into the topic at hand, AFAIK, no, you can't run Diablo directly on OSX. You can through Classic, but unless you have a recent Mac (ie. over 1GHz processor and enough RAM), you'll find that it loads very slowly, even if your Mac is well above the recommended specs. It's the main drawback to Classic: it's, after all, an emulator of OS 9.

Oh well, thanks for all the info though. I never bothered to put OS 9 back on my machine after upgrading to 10.3 so I don't have classic anymore.

I guess I'll just wait a few months untill I get 10.4 and then buy Diablo II as well :)

He he. Sounds like a good plan. Diablo 2 was TONS more engrossing, which is kind of a frightening prospect. Once you get a taste of being able to run, and having 16-way or whatever movement, you'll never go back.
