i saw the Forza motor for(xbox) ... i think it was kinda cool ..especially with the two kid's washing an $$$$$$$ car and the diffrent language they talked in
it's way more intresting then the average game cut sceen commecial...also the tekken5 one was kinda dumb

I got the original Nintendo NES Commercial recorded on videotape. Back from 1986. It's wonderful to see the guys play NES with R.O.B. Then to see the house lifting off into the sky like a rocket....

I'm diggin' pretty much any of Nintendo's commercials for the GBA/GC. They're so trippy! :D Nice use of colors, too!

from the UK, any "Sega Channel" adverts absolutely ruled the school. The ounatic and the skull and crossbones are all I remember but still, it's like a burn that will never fade. :)

I recall a silly Nintendo cereal commercial. It had some jingle that went "Nin-ten-do... it's a cereal. Wow!"

...I never liked that song. Heh.

And the GTA SA commercial this is still played..
My Son always runs and points at the game on the shef.
Well that goes for Lego/Star Wars and Halo 2 too.. :P

The first time I was totally in awe over a video game commercial was SSX for PS2. I just kind of sat there and was like "man, there is no way that could be a real game". Sure enough, I went and bought it ASAP and played it till it died

You mean Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand? It's a great song, and the perfect choice for the ad campaign.

Am I the only one who thinks those Jade Empire commercials are pretty slick? The stylized animation is pretty cool.

The new commercial for the Star Wars game had me laughing. The one where this loser paperboy, kicking over garbage cans, throws the guys paper in a bush. Then the guy raises his hand (Using his Jedi Powers) and the paperboy goes flying into a bunch of garbage cans. At the very end of the commercial the guy walks back into the house and uses his Jedi powers to retrieve the paper, which flies into his hand. Funny stuff!

Remember the tv commercial for the original Legend of Zelda?

Two kids (both white) are playing the game. Then the extremely nerdy one breaks out into a hip-hop rap.

(I only remember the first two lines)

It's the Legend of Zelda and it's really rad.

Those creatures from Ganon are really bad.

I can still see the commercial in my head both of them head bopping to the beat. LOL

I dont remember that one, but I do remember something about a "robber" breaking into someones house or something and saying some of the enemies names from Zelda. The only one I really remember was "Peahats", or something like that... man that was pretty vague wasnt it O_O

The original commerical for Mortal Kombat 2....man I never had that much hype in a long long time...It was so badass....Katana....Baraka...Scorpion...Sub-Zero....then Shao Kahn yelling "MORTAL KOMBAT!"

The most memorable commercial I have seen is this Japanese Zelda ad. (http://www.evilsponge.com/zelda/z3dance.wmv) Link brings down da house! I started a topic about this a while back.

Ok, well maybe that guy wansn't a "robber" but he seemed even more cracked out than I remember from when I was a kid... that Zelda like you posted was wild, zelda looks almost like a girl in that short (maybe it was, been drinkin a bit to celebrate cindo de mayo)... oh well, pretty cool none the less

For the most part they all catch my eye because of how stupid they are, like most other products they think gimicks, loud noises, lame humour or being annoying sells............
Here's a concept they just don't seem to realize........SHOW THE FRIGGIN GAME!!!!!!!! That is the most compelling reason to make your target audience buy..................................

Nintendo's loud, extended, obnoxious "Give the World a Wedgie" commercial from its Play it Loud era appears to be lost to the ages, perhaps for the best.

I agree with OldSchoolGamer; the most convincing video game ads are those that actually show footage. (So many flashy banners have passed through Forumplanet over the past few years, and the most interesting ones have got to be the ones from the game rental service that actually show screenshots!)

I really like the ratchet and clank commercials where they were test-firing the chiken gun

or the super mario sunshine one : "Clean is better than dirty, and dirty's meaner than clean". Even if kiddy and corny as hell, I really admired the Mario costume; would be great to have one.

And that reminds me of the Super Smash Brothers commercial, which I believe to be the greatest nintendo ad of all time.

i miss the old "SEGA!" ads entirely. i hate how most modern game commericials (especially ps2) flash the company/system logo before the commerical starts - so you're not freaked out if something zany happens.

The first US Gran Turismo TV ad from is still among my favorite. It starts out with a guy sitting in a car, getting ready for a start, and he's saying something like "give me a car... and I will drive it to the edge" and so forth, like very monotone. Then he starts and it switches over to different shots of game footage nd game stats flash on the screen "166 Cars..." and so on. Ahhh, it was then I knew I must buy a PlayStation. LOL

All the old Virtual Boy commericals with that zombie stoner dude running around - those I will always remember, as a time Nintendo dropped the advertising ball. They should have went for a high tech advertising campaign.

But... and I'm sure everyone will agree with me... one of the best "series" of video game TV commericals were the ones Nintendo did in the mid 80's with someone sitting in front of a TV - two of these come to mind. The first was for RC Pro-Am where it's a guy sitting in front of a TV (both shown from the side) and he's doing the general "look like an idiot playing a game" routine and the commercial shifts between him, gameplay footage, and staged footage of cars like on the cover of the box racing around. At the end of the commercial one of the cars goes flying by the wide shot of the guy and the TV. Another similar commercial that seemed to be bundled in with this one was for Ice Hockey. Basically the same thing with the same shots except the TV was on a little pedastal and was set up to look like a hockey goal - complete with a revolving light on the top. At the end of the commercial a puck comes smashing out of it and the light goes off. I'm sure there were more of these but those are the two I remember most. It was like for the 30 seconds or whatever the commercials lasted you didn't blink.

And check out the TurboTV archive - and remember "For the most excitement you must play the PCEngine!" - (check out the GunHed commercial) They also have the infamous Lords of Thunder promo video in case you've never seen it. LOL

Also in that Zelda commercial with the two kids rapping, notice how the one without the glasses is looking at (and comments about) the Nintendo Fun Club News like it's a porn mag. ROFL

I really like the Mercenaries commercial...mainly just because it all about "blowing the stuff up, blowing more stuff up, and blowing the holy living crap out of things..." I laugh everytime I saw that commercial.

The first time I saw that, I thought it was really childish and stupid. Then I realized that it was really childish and stupid, and also very funny.

Love that Zelda ad. "Zeruda! Zeru zeru *something*. ZeruzeruzeruzeruZEru taihen."

I like the Vice City ad a lot better than the San Andreas one.

I sort of remember, a while back, there was a pretty good commercial for MGS2: Substance for the Xbox. I just remember part about a guy sneaking around his office, then getting spotted by his boss and having a "!" appear over his head.

Speaking of MGS2, I've seen a very strange Japanese commercial for it. For some reason, Gackt (famous Jrock guy) is in it. I couldn't understand anything he said, but he dramatically whispered something that sounded like "boku shirinai" ("I don't know"). I'd like to know just what the heck was going on in that one.

I'm shocked nobody mentioned this, but there was an ad I clearly remember for some Yoshi game. This really fat guy was eating spaghetti until he exploded and half-digested pasta splattered all over the wall. I don't know why, but I always liked that one.

Also, the commercial for Banjo-Tooie. A guy in a Banjo suit jumps out of an airplane when he realizes Kazooie isn't in his backpack. He goes, "Kazooie?" And then screams until he hits the ground. "Ooooooooooohhhhh... ungf."

The sound he makes when he hits the ground had me cracking up every single time I saw that commercial.

Yeah those old NES adds were fun to watch.

I got a few save on the harddrive heck i. Like the Toy's R U'S ones where "father&son" are looking for NES games.
