dunno if this has been asked before, but i did a quick search and didn't come up with anything. if there's already a thread that i missed, feel free to point me to it, in the meantime...

player's choice titles on the gamecube... i hate those yellow bars. a lot. the thing i'm wondering though, is if the disks in a regular version of a game have any differences when compared to the player's choice versions. either in the printing on the disk, or in the game itself. if there are, a list might be nice, to tell which have differences...

anyway, any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Well, I know the Player's Choice version of Metroid Prime has some 'bug fixes' compared to the original.

I am with you I HATE the yellow on the spine. as far as i know there are no differences with the art on the disk itself. they are all the same. the PS2 and X-box disks are different however.

I've heard it said that the Player's Choice version of Super Smash Bros. Melee also has some bug fixes on it (in fact, I think there's actually THREE separate variations that you can only determine by minor fixes). And I too dislike those yellow bars. I was so disappointed when I found out that the Pure Evil 2-Pack was Player's Choice...

Yeah I have the SSBM player's choice and HATE the yellow.

I would rather have a buggy non yellow spine that does not throw my GC collection off by one title.

I also wish Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution was released in non GH form.

Hmm, I *hate* fixed/improved re-releases. It punishes those who buy the game early.

Take Ninja Gaiden. All that Live content I didn't get because I won't go down that road. Now I'll have to buy the re-release of NG when it hits the shops.

I too hate the yellow bars, but what can you do. The price is lower, so I just deal with it. I hate paying full price for a game even more. As for differences in the disc, as already mentioned, bug fixes would be the perfect thing to put on them. Fix the little things that were wrong in the original release.

I don't care about any of the stripes on the case that indicate a Greatest Hits/Players Choice.

I'm not playing the case.

^^^ bingo

If you dont want the yellow ink, shell out a few more bucks and get one new..

its like complaning that you dont like a hamburger because of its packaging.

so at minimum, we've found that some of the player's choice titles have some bug fixes. that leaves the issue of the disk art. anyone notice any differences at all in the disk art? i've only seen a couple titles, but didn't notice any difference.... just hoping there's someone here with a bit more knowledge of it than me. thanks!

I only own two player's choice games for GC, Super Monkey Ball and Sonic Mega Collection. Both discs are yellow. I assume that the non-PC version is not yellow. As far as content goes, I think there are a few cases with fixes in place and I've read lists somewhere, but looks to me like the printing on the disc is quite different.

I also am not a fan of all the yellow, but I was a fan of 2/$25 games. I'd do it all again.

If this was a hamburger collecting message board you might get some boos for that comment

I also really dont like the yellow bars and wont buy the a GC game unless its the original release. They just stand out on the shelf and it makes me angry. Must keep a nice tidy uniform collection.

I, generally, don't pick up any games on a budget label unless it was only released in that form (Pure Evil, for example).

Currently up to 69 'cube games, none on the Player's Choice label. I'll just buy 'em used, save myself a few bucks, and get 'em on the original label. If the case is thrashed but the coverart and manual are in good condition, I just buy new cases from Nintendo. They sell Gamecube cases in their online store.

I believe this is because it just so happened that you bought two games that have always had yellow discs.

I've popped open a few Player's Choice titles just to see, and of all the ones I've looked at, everything seems to be the same from a visual perspective. Perhaps there's a difference in a number on the packaging or the disc itself, but I'm not sure offhand. Bug fixes - I know nothing about them.
