How much should a NTSC/JAP version of PSO set me back
Keep in mind I'm using AU$ :) (roughly US$0.55 conversion ;) )

Dreamcast, Xbox, or Gamecube? New or used?
I got GC PSO new for about $55 USD ($100 AU) and got DC PSO v1 new for $5 ($10 AU) I don't know about XBox but it's probably the same but you need to have Microsoft Live access (about $50 USD/yr)

Dreamcast PSO used $14.95.
Where could I find it new?

try looking for the Dreamcast blowout section in best buy. I found a PSO v2.0 new for 10 bucks.

I got mine last fall at Sears. Strange isn't it? They still had PSO v2 for DC at $50 last I checked a couple weeks ago. >:(
