UPDATE: Scroll down a few posts for my impressions, and see how this game holds up!
I Just realized this was being released for DS, I checked out some videos on ign and read a hands on by gamespy, and it looks, and sounds pretty damn good!
Seems to have some awsomely animated 16 bit ninja turtle style gameplay, and some old school x-wing vs tie battles in 3d.
Gamespy praised the game, and the videos looks great (especialy 2d beat em up), so I checked out what people were saying about it on gamefaqs board, and every1 says it is awsome, some saying best ds game yet!
Multiplayer with bots, real soundtrack, rpg elements like leveling up, different force moves, It is looking spectacular.
Here is the link to the videos: http://media.ds.ign.com/media/711/711531/vids_1.html
Anyone get it and can tell me impressions? I am considering picking it up over a psp game such as darkstalkers and ridge racer.[/b]

I'm probably going for the GBA version which looks EXACTLY the same (really), just without the hideous-looking flying levels. Just let me slash people and I be happy.

I dunno man, Ridge Racer for the PSP is REALLY good. See, if they had released Episode III for the PSP then I might have wanted it.

such hard decisions! I am not a fan of racing games, but drifting looks like so much fun!
I am a fan of beat em ups, but the flying levels do not look as fun as 2d levels....argh!

Then just buy the GBA version. Same game minus flying. Still, Ridge Racer....

OK I think I will just get ridge racer, and then pick up SW later when I can get it used for a cheaper price...still it looks great though.

I dont think this one looks half bad. as long as I dont have to complete missions for medals at any point in time I will probably be picking this up. I am just so tired of the rogue squadron formula. Add one more to the list of DS games I need to buy. This saving money thing is for the birds. I am surprised Brisco at the gamstop near me has not filed a missing persons on me yet LOL
god I kill me

Well I picked the game up for DS and also got ride racer on PSP. All I know is that if you own a DS you really need to get this game! It trusly is like old school beat em ups such as TMNT, only now you got a lightsaber and some nice force powers.
I beat the game as obi-wan, he has more of a defensive style, being able to heal himself and become invincible to attacks. I am almost done with anakin now, he is definitly more fun to play since you can use his force powers to choke people, or double your attack power. Anakin is definitly alot harder due to having no force heal, which made obi wans missions more easy.
I am playing on the easy difficulty first as the controls are overwhelming a little at first since you have to learn how to do so many things at once such as memorize force moves as well as block.
The flying missions are a nice break from the 2d stuff, and are fairly quick burts of 3d flying action that are not bad at all, the multiplayer vs bots is nice, they put up a good challenge! there are also a wide viarity of ships to fly such as the falcon, slave1, tie's, etc.
There is alot of replay value to the game, and the game does give away some plot spoilers, but its nothing you probably did not know already.
The soundtrack is also excelent featuring real tracks from the movies in a crisp audio.
I have yet to play it on the harder difficulties, but if I have anything bad to say about the game it is that sometimes it gets a tad repetitive and that the enemies are often to hard to block especialy when you have 5-6 droids shooting at you.
Also the boss battles are done very nice, in a duel like stage that requires you to think fast on blocking your opponents next attack.
Overall so far I would say the game needs to be owned by any beat em up fan, or star wars fan, easily the best game available on DS right behind Mario64.
Fun, addictive, stylish, and overall a quality title, I would say 8.5/10.
Buy it!

I'm so tempted, however is it a single cart 4p multiplayer? If it isn't then I'll probably pass and get Megaman thats comming out soon that will be a single cart multiplayer.

its multicart unfortunately, becuase it would make for one hell of a single cart game....seriously more games need to be like puyo pop fever and have 8 player single cart!
But it is still worth buying for single player alone.

I'm bumping this since I just rented it.
This. Game. Rocks.
Even the 3-D levels I was leery about turned out great. They really needed to use the extra buttons on the DS, especially for the touch screen stuff. There's no need to make us move off the buttons to do moves when you're only using two of the buttons to begin with. It is short, but you can play through levels again to build up your characters.
Does anyone know what you have to do to get 100% in the levels? I don't have an instruction book to tell me.
*Shameless plug: Read my full review in the link in my sig....

I was checking out the gamefaqs boards, and it seems nobody can get 100% on all levels, let alone get 100% on one level (excluding boss fights).
I have tried and the closest I got was 90 something I believe.
The instructions do not tell you either, but people believe mixing up your force powers and using all of them, including using differnet special attacks gives you a perfect jedi performance score.
One thing I found really easy was unlocking all of the ships in multiplayer. People were complaining about unlocking the millenium falcon, but the FIRST time I booted up multiplayer I beat hte falcon only dieing once...I unlocked him and said "thats it, that was hard?" and after you unlock the falcon all other ships are a cake walk.
After I got the falcon I played a 3v1 game, my in a normal/average ship vs 3 falcons on the hardest difficulty....I can beat them all easily, it truly is sad how easy multiplayer against bots is.
Great game though :)
