Digital Cocaine

I was playing Robotron this morning while my wife was reading the paper and realized that I was agreeing with her and pretending to listen as I was playing. It made me wonder how many Digital Cocaine games are out there? What are some of the games that have effected your work, school or relationships?

Here are a few of mine.

2600 Air Sea Battle effected everything for me as a kid. It was such a new idea for me (playing with the TV) and I abused it so much that my parents put limits on me after a while.

SMB3 caused me to fake being sick and get out of school for 3 days. My parents worked so they didn't know I was playing all day for those 3 days.

720 - There was a 720 arcade machine at the Disneyland arcade. I worked on the rides and I would come in early to pump quarter after quarter into that machine. It caused me to be late for my shift many times. Klax replaced 720 a while after.

Playing SSX Tricky at work ate up quite a bit of time. I always got my work done, but I am sure it effected it a little.

Now it's Robotron and Animal Crossing. Last night I found myself watching the Kings game and playing Animal Crossing using the Picture in Picture function on my TV.

My Final Fantasy 7 save says 82 hours. That was 4 gamming sessions :hmm:

I'm going to agree with Happy Dude. FF VII took me over 99 hours to get everything, and all character level 100. Plus 3 master summons. This is the only game I've called in sick to work for.

for both of the n64 zeldas, but especially OOT, i stayed home a few days to play them no matter what stuff i needed to do. and when i would finally leave, i would think about them wherever i went, i can't wait for the new one! :D

My friends and I ALWAYS play animal crossing.

I also stayed home for Zelda: Majoras mask (my friend stayed home too, and we talked on the phone playing together for like 8 hours.)

on WWF wrestlemania, my friends made a belt, and we must have lost that thing to each other 200 times.

Halo and Max Payne were like that for me. I skipped work on one occasion and found myself ducking out on my wife's family functions. X_x OOPS!! :o

I've been finding excuses to play Tetris and Blackjack on my cell phone. It's gotten to the point where I am neglecting Lunar Legends on my GBA so I can play tetris on my phone.

That's saying a LOT.
