View Full Version : Sachen experts - Help me identify these games

I played two Sachen games but I'm not sure of their titles. The game looks to be Mahjong Trap but there are 2 different versions of the same game. One has a Joy Van logo, the other has Sachen & Hacker international copyrights. The name of the Rom is Shisen Mahjang - Seifuku Hen. It's very similar to Tiles of Fate. If someone has a Sachen copy of Mahjong Trap, which game (#1 or #2) is on your cart?

I also came across this screenshot of a game called Twin Ball but I didn't know it existed. Maybe it was released under a different name. Here's a pic

Hmmm...this might answer your question (frankly I'm as in the dark as you are, and where I am I'm choosing not to download a ton of ROMs and sift through them). I found an intereview here (http://www.nesworld.com/frick.htm):

What were the relations between Sachen, Hacker International and AVE? Because two releases were Tiles of Fate and Mermaids of Atlantis, both made by Sachen and both seem like "censored" versions of 2 hacker titles.

RICHARD FRICK:
The Sachen games we sold were "Double Strike" and "Pyramid". As I recall the other titles came from TXC which and made the "censored" versions for Hacker International.
I didn't think they looked like Sachen games, so that comes as no surprise to me! I bet that's what you're looking at.

I think he meant Tiles of Fate was released as Idol Shisen Mahjong by Hacker and Mermaids of Atlantis was released as Soap panic (aka Bubble Bath Babes) by Hacker. Tiles of Fate is very similar as Mahjong Trap but not the same.
