Nice to see the forums back up! I searched and didn 't see another topic for this:

http://cube.ign.com/articles/610/610956p1.html

"IGNcube learned today that the MileStone-developed GameCube shooter Chaos Field, which was published by SEGA in Japan, is now headed for a release in America. The title will be published by Q-3 and is scheduled for a late summer debut, according to the company."

I'm really surprised to see a shooter, of all things, announced as a third-party exclusive for the GC, at this point in its lifecycle. I personally would have preferred to have Dodonpachi DOJ, ESPGaluda, or Gigawing Generations announced for US PS2 release, but this is still good news. Also, I could see this being produced in fairly low numbers.

Great news indeed. To get high-quality shmups is fantastic.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense to get some Japanese exclusive titles so late in the consoles life cycle since the third party support for the Cube is just awful in the last year. (compared to PS2 and Xbox) It is a relatively cheap and effective way to diversify the game offerings.

Nice! Now all we need are NA/EU releases of Shikigami No Shiro II and Space Raiders.

Erm... Space Raiders has been out in the US on Cube for ages. Agree on a Cube release for SnS2 in the US though (have the Japanese version myself).

As has Shikigami No Shiro II. It was released as Castle Shikigami 2 for the PS2, Xexyz.

Didn't O3 publish Alien Hominid? I think that Chaos Field getting released is a great idea, considering it would give me another reason to knock the dust off my Cube.

Off-topic, I was reading an old EGM recently where I saw a One Piece title that Bandai was going to release in Japan, and I was wondering why they don't put it out here since the GC is slowly dying.

One Piece has been on NP's release charts for YEARS now... I think it's finally going to see US release this fall... I guess they wanted to build up a US audience with the cartoon first.

The DC version of Chaos Filed was just not my cup of tea, and I love shooters. I have all the DC ones, and I believe this one falls into the "well, it's there, but I'm not going to play it again" category. it's ALL boss battles. one after another.

then again, I may not like it because I suck at it. it's good to see shooters getting some love... it's especially good to see the GC getting some exclusive US love.

it's all about love, man.

:D

My bad on the Space Raiders, I'm a recent Cube owner

And as for the Castle Shikigami 2 released on PS2. It doesn't mean squat to me because I don't own nor do I intend to ever own a PS2. Thats why I'm still hoping, even though I know it won't.

Heh....figures. I overpaid for the DC one and now they release it on the US Cube...just like Ikaruga dammit.

This works out for me. I was gonna pick up the GC one while in Japan...but now I can just wait a few months. Maybe I'll grab Trizeal, instead.

Great news! We don't get enough shooters or GCN games these days. I'll be picking it up for sure! I hope it's released at $19.99 or less though.

This is good news, and I will defintely be buying this when/if it does indeed surface. But on the other hand, its Chaos Field, which just feels like a fanmade Nippon PC Boss Rush shmup as opposed to a AAA game akin to one of the Cave PS2 shmups we'll sadly never see in the US.

The news that there will be a third in the Sengoku Ace series coming to PSP by XNauts, the remnants of Psikyo, is much better to me. I love how import friendly all the portables are.

Sweet. Its nice to have a game to add to my Cube wants list, finally. Including Chaos Field, it is now approximately three games long. LOL

I see it as good news anyway. I will buy a copy of course when it's released. My reason is not only I want the game, cause the I also can wait for the moement they put the game in the discount. For me the reason is that I would love to see more 2D shooters released in the west, so those are the only games I buy at the release date. I know everbody looking strange to me when I bought the PS2 just for Gradius III & IV. I also bought a GC-version of Ikaruga just to support to support the release of shooters in the west, I alredy owned the DC-version. The other shooters I bought at release were Gradius V and R-Type Final as they were the only ones which got a proper release. The other few I own I just got in discount as they were released low profile.

This may very well be the reason I am forced to get a GC. While I would perfer to get it on the DC, even with the cheap priced GC release of Ikaruga the DC version still fetches anywheres from 35$ up to 50$. I cant imagine Chaos Field being any better off.

Sounds good as I really enjoy Ikaruga alot for GameCube, got Alien Hominid for PS2 and thats lot of fun. Need to get that Castle one for PS2 as it's on my next to buy list.

wow how did I miss this news. I was just in the super market and saw a little paragraph in the new NP. I guess it's supposed to come this time next month. 11/15/05 is what Gamestop was showing.

I never played the DC version so I'll be looking forward to this one. Although Border Down was the DC game I always wanted to play.

Nice update on an old thread. The DC version is great, it will be nice to have a US version now.
