Right, first thing I have to say that I've only been able to get the FoxM1 port working, and as it's older than dirt it doesn't work correctly with all the current ROMsets and probably doesn't support half the games that the new version does, but it's the only one I can make work (I have no clue what to do with the other one, as it didn't seem to do anything with extensive command line parameters/definitions of the ROM directory...anyhow).

You go here (http://www.emuhype.com/index.phtml?s=misc&ss=files), if you haven't already, and download it (top file). It's very easy to set up and use.

This thing makes ripping arcade music from MAME obsolete, for the most part. Listening to the stage 1 music from Growl, or The Battle theme from Rastan Saga 2? YES PLEASE!

Some notes:

The "Load" function under the "Game Browser" view works pretty randomly. It doesn't always (or even usually) load up the game you're pointed at, and in fact I'm not exactly sure how it chooses the one to play - it's usually pretty close to what you've aimed at, though.

Sometimes you'll get random error messages on ROM sets you *know* are good, and it'll refuse to play them...other times, the program will simply crash (with a humorous error message, to boot).

The thing about M1 however, is that it hasn't been updated in forever. I know that R. Belmont is still working on it, but I'll be danged if I can find a release between now and 2003. Granted, it's still a neat little program.

By the way, Ed, you should download BridgeM1 (http://www.e2j.net/downloads.html). So much better than any other frontend that I've used. You can thank me later. :P

Hey, thanks, I'll be replacing FoxM1 with that right now (...as soon as this track wears a bit thin LOL ). I've actually seen the name before, but forgotten about it...as for R. Belmont (also a question...the one and the same as the very R. Belmont who's visited DP now and again?), I'm definitely okay with it seeing how he's worked on adding support for things like Apple IIgs to Bannister's music player :D

I don't know if he's been here or not, but he's very involved in the MAME project. He's also starting to work on MESS a bit as well.

Aye, but I don't think his music player involvement is quite as well known.

I used this app not long ago to rip some music from Top Speed :)

not sure if we can bump old topics, but was just wondering if there have been any updates or progress to this? I downloaded the program in the OP, and I am very impressed! Unfortunately there are several games that it doesn't seem to support, and I was wondering if maybe there was an updated version or something that I'm missing
