Playstation 2 price drop in the near future?

One of my friends is claiming that Sony will drop the price of the Playstation 2 to $100, and I am wondering if he is just full of shit, or if there is any solid ground that this idea came from?

Sony might drop the PS2's price at or around the 360's Xmas-season launch, but not until then, since the system is selling as quickly as Sony can pump it out.
