View Full Version : Is Darxide worth ....

A freind of mine is probably going to sell his Darxide (cart only). I am vaguely considering making an offer for it, in trade - which would consist of:

Pal Mega CD Syndicate (complete)
Pal Megadrive Art of Fighting (sealed)
Jap Megadrive Virtual Bart (cart only)

Does this sound like a fair deal? Would I be offering too little / too much?

He definitely wants to buy the Syndicate from me, but I somehow doubt that alone would get me the DarXide ...

Or ... anyone else got a copy that they would trade me? :D (yeah, unlikely, I know .. but no harm asking).

I do have some other bits and pieces lying around, including a minty complete Panorama Cotton, a PAL complete Kolibri, PAL complete Saturday Night Slammasters ...

Trouble here is that it's all pretty high-end stuff, so prices tend to vary a lot -
I've seen half a dozen or so copies of Syndicate go for anywhere between £30 & £150, and I've no real idea what a 'fair' price for a loose Virtual Bart would be. Unless you're dealing with a sealed-game obsessive, I wouldn't value the Art of Fighting above £20 or so.

The last 2 loose DarXides both made in the region of £120, but it's hard to say whether that's a 'fair' price or not since they appear so infrequently.

You're in the right sort of ballpark, but if I had to go one way or the other, I'd say you;re a tad on the low side. But it's a very wide margin of error :/

Hmmm, I wondered so much. The Virtual Bart cart is probably worth a lot more in Japan than I could get for it here - however this guy does have a lot of contacts in Japan, so he may be able to get a better deal for it than I could, so that is my angle.

The thing is, I don't really have any cash to spend, so I would have to do 100% trade. And he does have pretty much everything else that I could offer him already ... in fact he already has a complete Virtual Bart, so the cart would only be of interest to him as trade bait for something that he would get from Japan I would imagine.

Ah well, I guess it probably won't come off. But I'll give it a go!

Since your not buying or selling with anyone on this site then this belongs in Video Gaming.

Hey, dude...

Did you have this cart at one time or am I confusing you with someone else? Didn't someone from the UK have a complete PAL 32x collection, then get rid of it?

When is the last time a COMPLETE DarXide appeared?

I haven't seen a loose on in a while, either... maybe they show up on Ebay.co.uk once in a while but I never see them because the seller will not ship to the States?

Personal I wouldn't trade my Syndicate Mega-CD for a loose cart. But that's mainly because I give no value to incomplete games. I already found it hrd to decide that I accpet european Mega-CD games withouth the spinecard.

But if you really want I should add the Art of Fighting as it isn't that hard to find nor it's a great coneversion. Anyway, I hope for you you can make a deal.

What is DarXide? Was it a Euro only game? I'm curious since it seems to be worth so much... ^^;

@ fishsandwich - it was Arrrhalomynn who had the complete 32X collection (see here (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20334)).

There hasn't been a complete DarXide on eBay for at least 3 years now, though there have been the two loose ones in the last 18 months or so. Your guess is as good as mine as to what one would sell for today.

@ Cthuhlu - yes, DarXide is one of the two Euro-exclusive 32X games, and is also the rarest 32X game along with PAL Primal Rage. It's a genuine PAL-exclusive and will not play at all on NTSC hardware. It bucks the general trend of 32X games by actually being pretty good aswell (or so I've heard - not had a chance to play it ;)). Expect to write out a pretty hefty cheque if you ever want one...

oooooo interesting trade. I got my copy of Syndicate on the Mega CD for £20 complete from Germany and the last few copies haven't sold for much money in real terms. It's definetly one of the rarest PAL Mega CD games but there are rarer ones.
Kolibri on the PAL 32X isn't as hard to come by as some people imagine. Although my copy isn't complete (missing manual if anyone wants to help me) it only cost me about £30. Plus although i don't yet own Art of Fighting for the PAL MD, it usually sells for no more than £20 and i know VERY LITTLE indeed about Japanese Games.

Now if you threw in some genuinely rare PAL MD games like Punisher or Separation Anxiety then you may make up the difference. Hehe.

But alas, i feel your pain, i would LOVE a copy of Darxide or Primal Rage as i am only after the 5 decent (IMO) PAL 32X games (i have 2 so far - Kolibri and Knuckles Chaotix, the fifth one is Motherbase btw). Plus im still missing PAL versions of Fahrenheit and Fatal Fury Special on the PAL Mega CD.

Was that the one on eBay Australia a few weeks ago? I was meaning to bid but missed the end of it :(

Primal Rage is a funny one.

It's NTSC version is prtety uncommon in the States, but nothing like the PAL version. I had a chance to get a complete one a while back foe about $60 but I decided not to as I've got the USA one and a mostly USA collection.

Check out Primal Rage on ebay.co.uk... it's at 77 pounds (aboy $150 with 5 days to go!)

Heh, I bought 36 Great Holes starring Fred Couples from the same seller for $10 Au. It might be golf, but $10 Au for a 32X game is good in my book. Only 21 to go :)

gl with Darxide.. even a semi-rare game would probably make the deal reasonably close for me personally, but this guy sounds like hes too hardcore for semi-rare X_x

:D

Speaking of 32x... it was called the Super 32x in Japan and very little is known about it. Japan had one exclusive game (Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4) and I've NEVER seen it for sale.

This ebay seller says that the Japanese version of Virtua Fighter had only 2000 to 3000 copies produced... what are the odds? Look at that BIN price!

I know that the 32x was a dud in Japan and sunk like a stone, but only 3000 copies max of the most popular fighting series in Japan EVER? Keep in mind that the 32x and this game appeared AFTER the Saturn was released in Japan. The Saturn verson of VF sold 1:1 with the console and was a big reason why the Saturn was sucessful in Japan.

Whats it worth? Use the rarity guide like you should you complete n00b moose turd!

Just messing!

Sounds like a good deal to me, however a Sealed Art Of Fighting?!?!? Surely thats worth more than the actual 32x game loose right?

Id say you or anagrama would be the best people to decide if its a good deal, with you two being Sega Gods after all!

good luck!

32X games are really, really rare even in Akihabara. It's a system that very few people care about... I'll keep an eye out and see if I can find any pricey games next time I'm there though. (I -might- go this weekend, money and time allowing) My curiosity is piqued. LOL

Sealed MD games aren;t really worth that much more than a complete one - it's just the 'Sega' sticker on the spine that seals them all, after all. I wouldn;t expect a sealed Art of Fighting to get much more than £20 or so - there were 2 complete ones in the last fortnight that ended under £10.

Indeed, let us know what you find! I'd really like to hear what the Japanese collectors think about the Super 32x. Just how obscure is it? How many folks collect for it? How many stores carry complete games? And what's the rarest 32x game in Japan?

I would like to go for a the japanese games, but, they are quite expensive (except a few) and hard to find. But the pal-version are also more expensive, games as Knuckles Chaotix and Mortal Kombat II which were released in quite big numbers are going quite high these days.
