View Full Version : I passed up on an R7 today... [UPDATE - Picked it up!]

and I'm not upset about it. I saw a copy of Bebe's Kids at the gamecrazy sale today. I looked it up in my trusty Advance guide, only to find its an R7 that is only worth 6 bucks!

Seriously, is this game so terrible that its only worth 6 bucks as an R7? Should I go back and pick it up tomorrow, knowing one day it will be the Chase the Chuckwagon of the SNES?

Update - I went back this morning and picked Bebe's Kids up. The thought of doing so is getting me a bit verkelmpt. Here is a topic - Good Idea? Or waste of $5? talk amongst yourselves.

Bad game = no demand.

No demand = low price.

Seriously, unless you were some kind of SNES completist, I would've passed on it. I doubt that will rise in value, either. (But then again, I'm no SNES expert...)

Don't feel bad, I know I could've picked it up for ten bucks for months before a used game store closed down and I never did. Don't really regret it either.

I probably would've picked this up for $6. I find that games that are notoriously bad are just as sought after as good games sometimes. I sold a boxed copy that was totally trashed for $15 on half.com at one point.

I'm pretty sure its still there, and I could still pick it up if I wanted.

Those familar with the gamecrazy sale will know that all old games are 3 for $15. The funny thing is that the game's price tag was $4.99, meaning it would cost $0.01 more to buy it in the sale.

My video game "spidy sense" tingled when I saw it, so I did a double take. The 4.99 price tag told me I might have been mistaken, so I decided to look it up when I got home, and thats when I found out its a worthless R7.

I *think* i purchased a boxed copy from you a few months ago for 8 bucks and Home Improvement complete for 10. If so, how far did you manage to get in Home Improvement because that game is one of the hardest i've ever played. :eek 2:

Here's how I feel about things....now.

When I see something I feel may be rare and at a cheap price I snag it..

If it isn't rare or of more value then I spent I usually find a way to make my money back or I just throw in in my collection..(depends on price and what it is.)...(or use it as a trade item/sell it within something else)
With the way Ebay is..something cheap now can all of the sudden jump....I've passed up way to much stuff cheap to later see it in demand or selling for more then I could of got it for..(kicking myself)

I seem to experience just the opposite. Everytime I buy something I know has been going for a good amount on ebay, when I go to sell it I can never seem to make money on it LOL

Perfect example, a few years ago when the Simpsons Main St playset came out they were going for $120 on ebay. The TRU near me had two ($60 each) so I bought them both figuring I could keep one and sell the other for double what I paid making both of them free. But when I put it on ebay it only sold for $68, despite the fact that ones had sold the day before for over $100.

It's also happend to me with a few PSX games, regardless to say I don't try to make a quick buck on ebay anymore.

Well, it could have been a R7 like Gaurdian... offered with a console, booklets, and games for only $20... *bangs head against the wall*

I would've bought it just to see how bad it really is.

I agree here. Plus, at that price, what the heck! ;)

Bad game = no demand.

Some of the worst games ever have the highest demand.

i picked up a R7 today. guilty gear for psx. $5

R8's and above are worth getting on the cheap just cause they are rare, but i would pass a R7 if it was crap and cost more than $5

Custer's Revenge, I imagine...things that have cult value or an opportune IP attached (Friday the 13th for the NES, anyone?)

I think this only applies to 16bit games and newer because there are a some really shitty yet very rare and expensive Atari 2600 games and NES games. Cheetahmen anybody?

16-bit is yet to be as sought after and collected as the 8-bit consoles. That's why the rarest SNES & Genesis sell for much less than the in demand titles. 5 years ago Flintstones 2 and Stadium Events sold for less than the Dragon Warriors, Bubble Bobble, etc.

The generation of the system (when talking about 8-bit vs. 16-bit) is neither here nor there. There are 16-bit SFC games that clear $500. I can also name a few $500+ Saturn items.

If I find a R7 or rarer in the wild loose I will buy it. Lower than that and I won't. Of course I won't pay crazy prices if its a low value one, but I don't mind paying a little bit above DP prices.

I passed on a sealed copy of BeBe's Kids on eBay....it was only like $20 or something....I probably should have bought that.

I've been doing pretty well with eBay turnarounds.

The Portable CD-I's did pretty well. I scored Team Buddies in the wild and sold that because I had no interest. I'll have some other rare PSX stuff up on ebay any day now.

Never EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER go buy the actual dollar value over a rarity, if a game is an R7-R8, pay up to 20.00 for it, not matter what the price value is. Eventually the price will go up, either that, or you can hook up a DP member who needs it.

Ever since I've been collecting, I don't even look at dollar value, rarity only, cause that's all that really matters in the long run.

I think your advice is the best. I'll go pick it up today (assuming its still there)

I can't really be sure what i'dve done in this case.
On one hand, Bebe's kids SUCKS. I'm far more gamer over collector, and already have more than enough r7's, good ones at that......
One small voice in my head says I would have bought it to see how shitty it is. Most likely though i would have passed as well, opting for a cheap ps2 shooter of some sort.
STAY AWAY FROM IT MAN

It is redundant, but I must say I hate that stupid game, Bebe's Kids. It is so boring that time can easily run out before you beat a stage. Horrible, horrible game.

I did manage to trade a loose Bebe's Kids for a loose Mega Man X2. :D

second R7 find I've made. I found a crazy climber cart last summer in a big box of stuff that included an R6 [Panda Puzzle, I think] a busted NES and a Genesis.

Paid $5 for that too :)

I have 2, Zoop and psychic detective (PD is a 8 i think). I would have 3 (Braindead 13) but by the time I went home and confirmed its rarity it was gone.
