Well... it looks like you shut everyone up. Great buy!!! :)
I only dream of getting a Stadium Events in the wild for cheap, but I highly doubt it will ever happen.
Do you live in New York by the way?

Not as impressive as finding it in the "wild" for cheap.

anyone can pay full price for stadium events. you just need to be the highest bidder when they do show up.

I find nothing impressive about being able to plunk down cash for a game like this. if he did indeed find this today at eb games for 10, thats impressive.

but the way this thread sits now, without the actual receipt, to me it feels like a "look at me and what i've got" and nothing more...

Don't worry about the 20 I just wanted my credibility. I do not live in New York I live in Miami. For everyone who wants to know what happened today here goes. I posted the original thread. I went to to play axis and allies with my brother. I came back online to check the thread and realized everyone was calling me a liar. I went home and my modem broke so I ran to my friends house and posted the pics from there. The atari pics will be posted on ebay when I sell those items this week and as far as the reciept goes I trashed it. There is no yellow EBgames sticker on the cart because it came in a EBgames baggie and the baggie had the price. It currently resides in my trash.

Does anyone know how many of these games where made?

Hehe, I knew it. Man, I understand you people have had some fakers in the past, but at least give em a day to upload pics.

Anyhow, nice find you got there! That's lucky that you found an EB that had it in one of their plastic bags instead of those nasty yellow stickers all over the cart. Are you gonna sell it or keep it for the collection? When I found mine for 5 bucks I decided to keep it because I know I'll never find it again.

Well, for once it was true. Congrats for being one of the very, very few on this board to have posted a "I've got Stadium Events!" thread and actually tell the truth.

Nothing personal, man, but when you're been burned several times in the past, skepticism until proven otherwise is only normal.

You would "toss the reciept" because you didn't really find it at EB games. I wouldn't see any other reason if you knew the rarity of the game. I've also never seen a NES game in the EB plastic bags, only SNES games. Anyone seen NES games in the plastic bags?

Yes they do sell them in plastic bags which are normally hung by a card. (near me anyhow) ;)

Of course if it was me I would have saved the receipt for the non believers :P I still have my receipt from my 12.99 Starfox Super Weekend cart find at a local EB games :D ;) :P

But anyhow , congrats on the find. I hope you decided to keep it in your collection if you are indeed a collector. If you decide to sell it for profit then good luck with that as well.

Look I dont have the receipt anymore. When I got home I was so excited I threw the bag (with reciept) in the trash and went online to double check my find. I certainly did not think that everyone was going to call me a liar so why would I have saved the reciept. In my opinion its stupid to make up a story like that. Furthermore, im a broke ass college student so I could never afford this game otherwise. I challenge any non-believer to look for those pics online or to check EBAY for completed sales to my ebay name sliopisdead. Its legit Im not lying belive me or not, its fine. Bottom line im NOT digging in the nasty ass trash to prove a few people wrong.

Damn, I wish my EB was like that.
At mine, they always put like 3 stickers on a cart. One on the back, one in a random spot and one on the label
And, when you've got a boxed game, theres like 5 sickers on it.

Oh yeah, and I beleive you.

Promophile: I would think if there had been a Stadium
Events auction recently on Ebay that it would have
been posted all over the Ebay Insanity fourm at the
very least.

He's got the pictures, they certainly don't appear stolen,
what do you want him to do next write your name
across his forehead hold up the cartridge and snap a
picture mid-back flip through a burning hoola hoop?

Face it you were mistaken, nows the time to apologize
and move on.

Both my local EB games have all their NES games in plastic bags with the sticker on the bag. I agree with you though, something smells fishy. If one knows the rarity of their purchase, one would keep some sort of proof to back up their claim. I think he owns it, but the $9.99 is not 100%believable since he has no factual evidence.

Geez. Who friggin' cares whether this poor guy actually found the game in the wild or not? Demanding receipts of someone as evidence of a video game purchase is really pretty sad, regardless of the game. Sure, when I got an NES proto at EB for $0.00, I kept the receipt - but that was for me, not for anyone else. There is absolutely no reason that anyone should have to prove anything to anyone else. If you don't believe the guy, then go ahead and not post. If several people don't believe him and none of them post, then his thread ends up sinking to the bottom anyway. He gets less attention and you win. If, sadly, he's telling the truth but ends up sinking, then who cares? He's got his game and he's happy. He's not submitting a tax return on the thing. He's not defending his purchase in front of the grand jury. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Good for you, game finder guy. Let that receipt meet the landfill.

i dont mean to start fires here, but the scenario fits pretty good for a lie.

hey, i found two games that are ass-rare in the same day. im keeping one and selling one. here is proof i have em..well one of em... pay me a crapload for the other one...its legit! i swear!

maybe he found someones photos of their personal holy grails, and cut out the stadium events from it....(note theres nothing else in the picture)

ill beleive this and possibly bid on the atari game if i see a photo of stadium events, the atari game and an NES gun. the gun wouldnt be included in a 'holy grail' pciture, so would prove decidedly that he has them both in hand. why not take the pic of both games at once if you plan to post them? i dont know...

seems fishy and maybe like an elaborate ploy to get all of us to bid on his 'super rare' atari game....

Unless we have a reciept or something else, I'm still calling bullshit here, just because someone can get pictures of the game does NOT mean they have it.

Hell, he coulda photoshopped a SMB/DH cart, it's not that hard to make them look realistic you know.

I'm not accusing him of photoshopping it nor am I accusing him of lying, I'm just saying, there has to be more proof other than a simple picture.

Uh, yes, they do. Here's but a few recent examples:

"Suckers" (was "Found a Stadium Events for $10) (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24602&highlight=stadium+events)

I just bought out a videogame store (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18315&highlight=stadium+events)

And I don't EVEN want to go into one of Charlie's many "I found 10 sealed Stadium Events for a dime each" or "I found a Charton 160-in-1 cart stuck to my shoe" or "I underwent an ultrasound and they found Chase the Chuckwagon" in my colon.

I wasn't going to weigh in, but here's the quick version...

People are skeptical. Why?

1) The person claiming to have it has a total of eight posts.
2) The person claiming to have it says that he is going to sell things on eBay while mentioning it.
3) The person provides pictures with no proof to back up his story other than pictures of a cartridge... which doesn't really prove anything.
4) The fact that twenty other people have tried doing the same thing in the past.
5) The fact that the seller couldn't immediately post a thread because his "modem" stopped working, yet he could posts that he is on the way to his friends house.
6) The fact that he threw out the receipt and all the proof of getting it for $9.99 after he claimed that one very strongly in his first post.

I'm not saying that he's lying, I'm just saying that there is a lot of reason to not believe him. If I had shown up on these boards today and for one of my first 10 posts, I claimed that I had an Alien Vs. Predator prototype for the Jaguar, a Star Fox Competition Cart and three copies of BattleSphere for the Jaguar, I would expect there to be a lot of skepticism. Then, if I said my camera wasn't working, I would expect it to get even more. All those things are true though (including the broken camera), but since I have been here it is a lot easier to believe.

And I did _not_ keep my receipts from any of the above, including Star Fox which I paid a whopping $5.99 for.

Do I believe this one is true? Personally, not yet. To prove it, you could do a million different things -- pull out the receipt from the trash or the baggie (I'd love to see how it was labeled), take a picture of the cart in a different setting. Take it with a TV program from today in the background. Anything would make it a lot more believable.

Until then, people are going to stay skeptical. So will I.

For the person that claims to have found it -- if it's true, congrats! A great find, and one that many people here think is definitely worthy of their most prized spots in their collections.

If it isn't, I don't know why you're wasting your time. As collectors who tend to hunt a lot, we aren't going to be bidding up your other auctions a ton just because you're trying to prove you have a rare cart. It doesn't matter. The size of your ePenis is not relational to the amount of bids you'll get.

Anyway, I hope it is true. With that in mind, GREAT FIND!

This is how my original post should have sounded like, I came off sounding pissed and jealous though when in all honesty, I am not jealous, hell I have 2800 games...I have no reason to get jealous over one game I don't have! LOL

Thanks goatdan for chiming in on this, it's hard to believe things when we've been there and done that before, many many times, and always with Stadium Events.

If it isn't, I don't know why you're wasting your time.

Right. And why are several of you wasting your time trying to detail all the ways he could prove this and explaining the numerous holes in his story. If you think he's full of shit, then just ignore him. What a waste of text this thread has become.

Hey, guy with cart - if you've really got it, then prove it with a video clip showing you smashing the game to bits with a brick. Then mail each skeptic an autographed and dated piece. Maybe that will be evidence enough.

This is the maximum magnification he is allowed to release to the public, but my buddy in the CIA assures me that he can clearly see someone exiting the EB games here (see arrow) with an NES Stadium Events in one hand and a reciept in the other. Can't be sure, but chances are this is our guy. Hopes this clears everything up.

By the way, I'm selling satellite photos of the 2600 E.T. burial site, cheap!....PM me if interested ;)

There is so much hate on these boards....
Nah, not hate at all. Healthy "we've been down THIS road a bahmillion times before" skeptism. Swear to God, n00b making outlandish claims happens once a month. So many folks roll their eyes and ask for solid, can't doubt it "proof" until they let loose with their "atta boys."

... or is it just an easy way to take out your frustration on someone else because your life isn't going the way you want it to?

See? Now THAT'S hate. Welcome to DP.

Wow, now I can justify the reason I've been lurking so much on these boards and not posting.

I thought video game collecting was supposed to be fun???? There is so much hate on these boards.... jealousy.... or is it just an easy way to take out your frustration on someone else because your life isn't going the way you want it to?

:/ Damn, people, its not worth it

'Tis called a sense of humor + razzing a new poster with a HUGE claim and no real proof (at first).

Noooooooooo........... :bawling: Never with any game, don't care if it's your 7000th copy of Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt or a sealed copy of Dracula-X. Destruction is never the answer. Just like those people that burn arcade cabs because they go "uhuhuhuh.. duuuurrr... I dun know how ta fix it... no one'll want t'is.. *burn*" ..no restoration...no MAME conversion...no attempt to sell it or give it away...no redemption for their gaming souls! :devilish: A joke is a joke but don't hurt the games. :(
