No sound from a GBC [Archive] - Retrogaming Roundtable

I picked up a used GBC for 10 bucks today (since I didn't have anything that could play the GB Zeldas I got from the GameCrazy sale). It's fairly beat up, which I can probably live with, but there's one problem that I'm not sure I can ignore: the sound doesn't seem to work. Are there any easy fixes/solutions for this sort of issue?

And yes, I did turn the volume up and down...just to make sure. x_x

Did you try headphones?

I checked just now, and there IS sound, but it's muffled with a painfully strong buzzing noise (I've never used headphones on a GBC before, but it CAN'T be normal). The noise is persistent to the point where playing a game for any real length would be come incredibly bothersome. I'm thinking I might have to exchange it at another store or something, or maybe even return it and hold onto the money for something else/better.
