Which games have y'all made numerous failed attempts at getting, even when you thought you were close or took a long time to get? Includes situations like:

>Getting sniped on ebay repeatedly

>It takes you hella lot of time to save for it, but once you're ready to get it it's gone

>You felt desperate at trying to sell your other games to get it off ebay, and time and hoping someone will buy it becomes your enemy

>You had the money to get it, you can't find it anywhere so you give up and buy something else. Once you let your guard down, there it comes back up and you wish you hadn't bought the other game.

Anyway it's happened to me with:
Phantasy Star (SMS)
Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (PCE)

Right now I'm still having a hard time trying to get the following:

>Akumajou Dracula XX for Super Famicom.

>Strider (JP Mega Drive)

Sega Master System - Sonic The Hedgehog

This one is just stupid for a complete US collection, it's practically a PAL game. I no longer care if I get it or not nor search for it, I'm done with the US SMS. I really will not pay an insane amount of money just for a barcode.

Sega 32x - World Series Baseball

Stupid Baseball game that sells for 50 bucks and over repeatadly. I've never felt compelled to pay that much for it, even though it's the last game I need. Now I'm starting to regret it because I have not seen a copy on ebay in months.

Genesis

It's getting tiring trying to complete this system. In the wild, I always have all the games at every store I go to except for maybe a few which are always in HORRIBLE condition. Trying to collect for this system on ebay really bites. You just have to spend tons of time searching out auctions that don't include 90% sports games. I have found some good deals, but it's tough.

Oh btw =hellvin=, if you're still looking for Rambo III, you want another shot at it? I admit I was out of my mind in one of our PM's.

Final Fantasy Tatics : This is before the rerelease of the greatest hits. I looked everywhere for this game, the only times I could find it was on ebay for an ungodly price.

Vandal Hearts : I rented this game when I was in college, but I couldnt find it anywhere. I finally picked up a copy from a video store that was going out of business.

Genesis
Fatal Labyrinth
Had it when i was younger loved it. My mom sold it at a tagsale and for almost 10 years (that says alot seeing as i am only 17) i was trying to get another complete copy. None of the local shops had one. Then 2 weeks ago not one but 2 copies turned up at my fav local shop.

Dreamcast
Samba de Amigos
Have been looking for this game since before i got my DC. I believe i started in 2000. Again no local places had it and last year i saw it 100% complete with working maracas and all at my favorite local shop.
I asked a guy to hold it for me till i could get the other half of the money (15 bucks they only wanted $30 for it).
2 weeks later when i have the money and finally get a ride out there i am told a different guy working the shop sold it on my THE DAY BEFORE!

I cried on the inside alot.

I've bid on these games multiple times and lost them:

Antarctic Adventure (Colecovision)
Destiny of an Emperor (NES)
Golvellius: Valley of Doom (SMS)
Time Soldiers (SMS)
Castlevania Legends (GB)
Boxy Boy (TG-16)
Galaga '90 (TG-16)
Crusader of Centy (Genesis)
Gaiares (Genesis)
Insector X (Genesis)
Truxton (Genesis)
Nosferatu (SNES)
Bug! Too (Saturn)
House of the Dead (Saturn)
Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth (N64)
Return of the Ninja (GBC)

I know most of these games are easily attainable, I just haven't got around to getting them quite yet. :/

tengen tetris - i've only seen it once in the wild but i got screwed out of it by a flea market vendor. it's on ebay all the time but i'm reluctant to buy it there.

sms castle of illusion - i've bid on it a few times but i end up getting sniped at the last second.

vic 20 games - when it comes to the more desirable ones, the same group of people usually bid and it goes far beyond what i can pay.

Took me a long time to get Xenon2 for MD, I finally have it, without manual though D:

Also, I was *always* outbid on each and every single CDTV game on ebay. I think some higher entity doesn't want me to own a CDTV title, still don't have one yet, but I got the system for way over a year already.

Oh, I've been watching Batsugun (JP Saturn) and Strikers 1945 (JP Saturn) on ebay for years now. One of these days...

I almost don't know what I'd do with myself if I actually bought them. LOL

Thunderforce Gold 1 & 2, Batsugun, and Blast Wind for the Saturn for me. I had all 4 of them a long time ago, then foolishly sold them when I needed some money, only to be completely unable to find any of them again for years. :frustrated:

I finally found Thunderforce Gold 1 & 2 again at a used game store in Osaka, and Blast Wind and Batsugun in Hong Kong, of all places. I didn't get very good prices on any of them, but I didn't care one bit. I have them again, and I will NOT sell them this time. LOL

As for the "can't decide if I should spend the money or not" games, Taromaru for the Saturn and Sapphire for the PCE keep pestering me. Can they -possibly- be worth the hundreds of dollars they go for? I doubt it, but I still want em. :D

And my "can't find the damn thing" game is Harmful Park. I've scoured Akihabara at least 3 times looking for JUST THIS GAME, and I still don't have it. Maybe someday...

Atari System W Games::

I heard from a radio station that a guy was selling an Atari system with 42 or 60 games. I don't know if they were complete, minty, Brand new or what. Anyway, the guy calls in this radio station- the VERY DAY That i called him. (You call into the radio station to place an ad) When i call, He says he sold it Days ago!! No i didn't yell at him.

Knuckles chaotix (32x):

Yeah, i was rather crazed to play this. I went so far as to paying $50 for a used, Complete copy.. But my 32x didn't work. And i thought it was the game. So i got my cash back.

Don't call me pathetic.

I don't think it has happened to me any other times..

Jesus Christ, 50 dollars for Knuckles Chaotix? I grabbed it with like 6 other games for 30 bucks off of E-Bay. You guys just don't seem half as patient as I am or something, because I tend to get what I am looking for.

For me it's a complete Death Race (NES) from eBay. The first time I tried to snipe one was last year, but someone else sniped much much higher than it's worth. It ended at $120 @_@ . Then, a few months later, I was getting ready to snipe one and I had about 5 minutes to wait so I went and made a sandwich. While I was doing that, something interesting caught my eye and I completely forgot to go back to the PC and put in my snipe. That time it went for $14. The third time was during December. I had a winning bid with a pretty high proxy and I was monitoring it for other snipers, and you wouldn't believe what happened. The guy pulled the auction with LESS THAN A MINUTE TO GO! I didn't even think that wa allowed.

I'll get a complete Death Race one day but it's tough when they only show up like 5 times a year.

Keio Flying Squadron for Sega CD and Panzer Dragoon Saga for Saturn. I don't want to pay over $100 for either, especially not Keio, and the ebay prices are crazy. Once I found a copy of Keio in the wild but while the store had the case and instructions they had "lost the CD." Maybe it's just not meant to be.

If you're willing to live with it in Japanese, the JP version of Panzer Dragoon Saga (Panzer Dragoon Azel, iirc) is really cheap.

Hmmmm. Neither of those games seems all that interesting to me, but I haven't layed either. I collect (by my definition of the term) for both systems and have many of the high profile games on each though.

I have some rare games others might question though..... But I always try to find them for significantly less than they usually run so that I can sell them at a profit if I feel the need to.

Like hell if I paid the usual going rate for PCE Steam Hearts LOL

It took me a long time to find that at a price that I could stomach. Trying for a PCE shooter subcollection. God help me when I just need Sapphire and Darius Alpha.....

It took a while to find PCE Double Dragon II for a reasonable price.

Oh, I've been watching Batsugun (JP Saturn). Strikers 1945 (JP Saturn).

Hmmm. What does Batsugun run these days. It was worth what it went for when I bought it. Great game IMO.

Strikers is really nice also (though more overpriced in a sense).

I'm personally a really big fan of Toaplan an Psikyo though. If I somehow lost Sengoku Blade for instance I would pay way too much to get it back.

I took me a couple years to find Panorama Cotton for under $150 (online).

Panzer Dragoon Saga for Saturn

Reminds me of why I started learning Japanese. The price of US versions of games like that seemed more of a pain than memorizing Kanji. I'm kind of insane though......

STARBLADE ALPHA for ps1 I've only seen one complete and it was in bad cond.(ALWAYS looking to buy one HELP)

I agree, that game is way the hell too hard to find (also my favorite arcade game). I have a disc only copy that was a previous rental from Hollywood Video years ago - was $5 and pretty much the only person ever renting it was me over and over. I did stumble across a boxed complete Starblade Alpha for the PlayStation - FACTORY SEALED, not some reseal srinkwrap crap job. $40.... I die a little more inside each time I remember that... saw it two days before Valentine's Day and was broke due to it being that time of the year. :(

Wow...I'm surprised it ended so high. My local gamezone has had a complete one for EVER. I think I may have to pick it up and get rid of my cart.

For Keio you could try UK eBay if you have a converter. Most of the time there is at least one copy on it in Pal-format. It's a great game, don't get it why it's so rare in the USA and quite common in Europe.
