What would be a reasonable price for a cabinet with a board, but no games?

It depends on a few things. Is it a dedicated Neo Geo MVS cabinet or a conversion? How many slots is it? What size is the monior?

Lets just say your stereotypical 3 slot red neo-geo cabinet, then i can adjust up and down accordingly.

3 slot, decent shape, reasonable monitor, I'll throw $200 out there. It's always relative, though, depending on who is selling.
Wait, is there even a 3 slot? I've seen 1, 2, and 4, but don't recall a 3.

Where the hell did 3 slot come from?
As Chad's onto, they come in 1, 2, 4, and 6 slot flavors.
Now, the price on a Neo cab can vary based on so many things that more detail on what you're looking at/what you want is really required. Size of monitor, number of slots, does it come with any games (and if so, which ones), is it a "big red", is it a Gold 2 slot, is it a Japanese candy cabinet, etc etc.
In your question, you say no games, so that helps some. Number of slots, style of cabinet, monitor size, and level of function would all help to give you a better estimate.

I recently paid $200 for a two slot. I'd say Chad's estimate is definitely in the ballpark.

Well hell, i guess all the machines i played on that had three were actually 4 slots with a game taken out. Gotta learn somewhere right? Thanks for the info, there is an arcade auction this Saturday and i wanted to have some idea, because this is the only reason i want to go.

Ok -
For red cabinets, 1 or 2 slots are good for about $200, assuming nice monitors, etc. 4 slots can go a little higher, and 6 slots even higher (up to $400ish). For "gold" 2 slots (you know 'em when you see 'em), you can go a little higher than a red 2 slot and be in fair range.

Thanks for the kind words, just trying to let you guys see another 2-slot mvs cabaret. I gotta say, its probably my favorite at the moment. I must have led a sheltered life until Papastu showed me the gaming goodness that is the Neo Geo. :D

Sorry to bump an old topic, but I know nothing about Neo-Geo stuff, and when I was at Value Village today they had a red MVS 4 slot with I think a 19" monitor and Art of Fighting 2, War of the Monsters, Samurai Showdown, and maybe Blue's Journey in it (they said that all 4 games were in it but i could only get it to switch between the other 3) for $499.99 CDN. Also the right joystick was loose and probably needs to be repaired or replaced. Does that sound like a good deal with those games and with the joystick problem, or is that too much? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I would also like to know the going price of a 25 inch, big red, decent condition but not excellant, 4 slot (I know the value of the games so you don't need to add that into the price).

i paid $350 for my near mint big red with 25" monitor and 4 working games
i swapped out the joysticks bc they were a little dirty and cleaned it up a little bit and everything worked great....

Honestly? I'd try to talk them down. That's a little high, IMHO.

I can't remember the exact prices but I've purchased 2 Neo Geo's for between $100-$150. One was a dual slot with a 19" monitor, the other was a single slot with a 25". Name brand games (Metal Slug, Puzzle Bobble) will affect the price, but not by hundreds of dollars. $499 sounds high to me unless it's in pristine, original, collector's shape.
On February 20 it's there 50% off everything in the store sale, so I'll go then and hopefully they'll still have it. $499.99 CDN sounded too much to me too, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the info.

I hope bumping this up doesn't afend any one but I have a real stumper
I found a MVS with 30 games(lot of good titles too) in the local paper and called the person went over to her house and saw it but she wanted $1500 @_@ . But the big delema is that it has a 6-slot, 2 monitors and, 4 controls and it looks like if you mirored a Big Red. So basicly it is 2 cabs stuck toghter and it is not custom and the other screen and controls are for another board. I was wondering if anybody knows about this kind of cab and I already asked at the NeoGeo forums and they think I'm nuts. I don't have pics and can't find any.

By any chance, does it look like this cab?

or maybe this one?

I can't imagine someone going through all the trouble to swap one of those machines into a dual Neo setup, but anything's possible.

More so the Cyberball cause it had the sign on top of it. The lady said the cab was from Canada. It looks ery cool but that price seems insane but I want so thats why I asked.

well, its not an offical SNK Neo Geo cab....and $1500 is very pricey.....i would def. pass it up .... or try to get it for like $500 if you really dont care about having a real SNK cab

I ended up going back today and got it for 50% off at their sale. Now I can finally play some Neo-Geo games. :-P

I was thinking the same.
At any rate, even with a real Neo cab, $1500 is wayy too much, IMHO, unless those 30 games are all complete kits and all rarer games.

I would say a little more than half where complete and there was 3 Metal Slugs :-P and some KOFs and that Bubble game. I thought $800 sounded good.
