You all know about the arcade machine that is Ms Pacman and Galaga combo for the 20th aniversary. I played it in the arcade and realized that Ms Pacman is alot faster then the original, which is great. The game is alot more enjoyable at a faster pace. Now I know the original machine had a "fast game" dip switch setting that may work in mame, but it's still not faster then the 20th combo machine.

My question is: Does the latest mame romset have this faster version in it, or do I just tweak the hell out of the origional rom so the speed gets jacked up? My last romset was ver 0.71 which I know is way out of date.

Thanks in advance for any help.

No it didn't. There was an add-on chip available for the "speed up " mod.

I had a Ms Pacman arcade machine a few years ago, I thought it did but I never really got the machine to work correctly. Still, can I get the mame rom or a mame tweak to crank it up?

Pretty sure there's one available, but I prefer Ms. Pac at the normal speed, so I've never really looked for it.

If you run Ms. Pac-Man in MAME, go to the DIP Switches. Look for "2x Speedup Cheat". The default is always on.

There's also a "Ms. Pac-Man (with speedup hack)" listed in MAME. You might want to try that and see if it's up to your speed standards. The short name is mspacmnf.

i have a ms. pac machine with a speed hack, and once you're used to that, there's no going back. trying to play regular ms. pac man is pretty much downright painful. things go waaaay too slow.

Thanks for the info.... I agree, I'm used to the faster pace, so when playing at normal speed I usually screw up because it's too slow.
